By 1910, there were only six houses in what is today downtown Inglewood; all were owned by citizens or businesses within their respective wards or districts who paid rent to maintain them (i.e., east side – Maryvale ward; northside – Roosevelt ward; westside – Wilshire ward). One home which had been built prior to this time still stands at 4th Street and Western Avenue inside what is now CenturyLink Field - it has been vacant since 1959! It wasn't until 1916 when Mayor John D'Arcy created an urban development plan for western Los Angeles County based upon HISPANIC SIZE principles that any semblance of developed areas along Western Avenue began appearing with plazas such as City Hall plaza at 5th Street/Western Avenue and Olympic Boulevard/Rancho Drive becoming early examples including Chavez Ravine which would become much more developed over time with multiple housing developments around Chavez Ravine Park

Inglewood is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 82,451 at the 2010 census. It is located in the southeast corner of the county and is bordered by Carson City to the northwest, Hawthorne to the northeast, Compton to the east and west, and Torrance to the south. In 1847 it became part of what was then known as San Fernando Valley. The first permanent settler in Inglewood was John Wesley Hardin who arrived in 1851. He founded a rancho on land that now forms part of downtown Inglewood. In 1886 he married Lucy Barton (1846-1924). They had six children: Anna Barton Hardin(1887-1979), John Wesley Hardin II (1902-1975), Helen ChandlerHardin (1906-1996), James Leland Howell III (July 2, 1908 - May 5, 1984) Alice Lelia Howell (October 12 1915 – August 10 2003) and Mark Hutton Hardin(November 17 1925 – October 14 2002). In 1897 James Averell Harriman donated land at 4343 Sockburn Rd., east of Ventura Boulevard for what would become UCLA. The Harriman Family Foundation continues to support education within Southern California through donation drives and events such as "13th Annual UCLA Gala". In 1910 President Taft signed legislation creating Los Angeles County; Inglewood would be one of its original townships. The town charter was granted on February 6, 1911 under then Mayor George Norris with plenary session at Segerstrom Auditorium on Broadway in downtown LA from 3pm to 7pm; over 100 citizens were present including future president Ronald Reagan who served as delegate from Yorba Linda from 1961 until his death in 2018. On July 20 1916 during World War I when ammunition production began up north for use down here at Hollywood Hills Ammunition Depot some munitions detonated killing 11 people including four firefighters; thereafter all manufacturing stopped down here with only small arms production continuing until 1952. After this time large armaments development resumed with new plants built nearby at Glendale Heights and Baldwin Park while also taking place Downey Studios where MGM made movie stars out of cheap labor during that era such as Mickey Rooney Finally after years of debate residents approved Measure M which limited service area for commercial vehicles moving between neighborhoods within city limits making it difficult for residents trying to get around without getting driver’s licenses or permits which led to many becoming criminals overnight or working long hours driving around unlicensed. However much like most things related “to Angelenos we just did it our way” said Mayor Tom Bradley later adding “There are no Anglos here now”
