Inglewood, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 118,853 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Los Angeles County after L.A. The area that now makes up Inglewood was first inhabited by members of the Tongva people as early as 1540 AD. The Mission San Gabriel Arcángel and Mission San Fernando Rey were founded in 1821 and 1825 respectively, and were part of Mexico until it was ceded to the United States in 1848. In 1870, an act of the state legislature created a new municipal corporation called "the City of Angels". When Anaheim became a separate municipality in 1903, its mayor refused to recognize Inglewood's incorporation as a separate entity so he continued to be known as Mayor Anaheim's hometown until his death in 1909. In 1957, American Motors Corporation (AMC) opened their largest dealership ever outside Detroit MI when they built an 8 million square foot factory on Hollywood Boulevard south of downtown Los Angeles that employed over 100 workers at various sites around town including what is today Olympic Boulevard and Victory Boulevard near Staples Center. In 1959 AMC merged with Ford Motor Company forming Ford-AMC Corporation which remains one of America's largest automakers to this day On January 1st 2019 Inglewood became one of 5 cities across Southern California selected by Governor Jerry Brown to be part of the city’s “Leadership Development Initiative” through Cal State Northridge’s Moraga campus which will support 3-month intensive business or entrepreneurship courses for high school students from all 50 states who are interested in pursuing career paths within regulated industries like tech or healthcare

The name of the city comes from an Indian word meaning "east of the woods". In 1965, Inglewood became one of 35 cities within the newly formed Los Angeles metropolitan area. He served on the Superior Court for Los Angeles County from 1861 to 1865 and also held office as Mayor of Los Angeles from 1863 to 1865. In 1907, entrepreneur Julius Kahn bought land east of Hollywood Boulevard and built what is now called Disney's Hollywood Studios on it. It would be his only theatrical production company; he died in 1928 without any further productions being made there.
