Inglewood is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. The population was 82,695 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of downtown Los Angeles and forms part of the Metro area. In 1909, Harry's father built what is now the first civic center in town – one that still stands to this day and is used for municipal purposes today. In 1916, Harry's son Jack Inglewood bought 3/4 of a plot of land east of downtown for $8 per acre and began developing it into what is now known as Inglewood Heights. This initial development included an elementary school (1916), two churches (1917), a post office (1918), four businesses (1920s-30s), two hospitals (1926-29), and over 100 homes (1945). On October 15, 1950, following passage of the United States Constitution amendment adding "Los Angeles County" to its text, the City Council formally designated Hollywood Boulevard as its Division Avenue – thus giving rise to Hollywood itself as an incorporated municipality separate from neighboring urban neighborhoods like Culver City and Van Nuys. In 1966–1967 when Interstate 5 was being built through Downtown Los Angeles, much attention focused on nearby Beverly Hills which had large tracts of undeveloped land ringing its western border; Beverly Hills developers lobbied hard to keep their section open while I-5 was being constructed so they could build highrise condos there instead. However because most people living in Beverly Hills were already homeowners or tenants within walking distance of their homes rather than commuters passing through or using I-5 as their only means of transportation there was little interest in developing adjacent properties within Irvine Park which became known locally as "Beverly Hills West". A few years later when I-5 opened up all around Downtown LA including Beverly Hills West and other areas surrounding it it finally made sense for those behind Beverly Hills West to start developing adjacent properties - starting with Walt Disney World who leased some parcels near UCLA campus before eventually building entire roads throughoutwdldlanta called "Walt Disney Drive"

Inglewood, California is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It is the county seat of Los Angeles County and home to most of the city's population. The city was founded on December 4, 1871 by James W. Brougham and his brother-in-law George H. Smith, Jr., as a small town named for its founders’ family name (Brougham). The original town site was located in what is now Lynwood. In 1922, Brougham and Smith donated land in Inglewood to the City of Los Angeles for municipal purposes only. The following year, City Council voted to rename the area "Inglewood." In 1933–34, Mayor Claude Pepper moved the county courthouse from downtown to Inglewood after it became vacant due to the Great Depression. In 1957, voters passed an ordinance creating a Charter Revision Commission that would review all charter changes proposed by local governments within Los Angeles County; this led to the creation of Inglewood's first ever municipally run school district that same year. On November 3rd of that year, voters approved Measure R which created voter-approved special taxing districts within Los Angeles County for use by cities and towns; these special taxing districts were used to fund various city services such as education and firefighting without raising taxes on residents. In 1959–60 Mayor Richard Riordan designated Inglewood Heights as an inner-city neighborhood under Neighborhood Development Authority jurisdiction; this designation helped spur development in both areas and has resulted in much gentrification over time. On October 1st of that year—the date which marks 100 years since Brougham & Smith discovered oil reserves at El Centro—a group consisting primarily of business people gathered at City Hall in downtown LA under the auspices of "Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation" or "LADE") to celebrate their accomplishment; during this event they unveiled a plaque recognizing their discovery with an inscription reading: “The discovery of oil resources at El Centro allowed Mr James W Brougham and his brother-in-law G H S Smith Jr., To become Leaders In Homebuilding And Business Men Of Their Time” This event also marked beginning of what has been called "The Oil Age", during which production increased significantly from pre-revolutionary days along with accompanying social effects including rising prices for goods and services while wages stagnated or fell behind those enjoyed by other workers nationwide
