In 1860, beautiful new streets were laid out within what are now downtown Anaheim by George Washington Hill (1810-1874) who was instrumental in helping create Anaheim’s skyline today following his redesign of Los Angeles Boulevard at Cahuenga Avenue with boulevards running east-west instead of north-south like current routing which paralleled then ran along street grid straight lines called “avenues” which led people to confuse these streets for squares or grids when they actually served only key business areas within neighborhoods like nearby Northcliffe Heights did prior to its incorporation into Anaheim Hills during this time period too! The city was founded in 1868 by Captain Charles W. Huntington and his family as an agricultural town on the east side of San Joaquin River. In 1870 it became a mining town when gold was found nearby and production increased until 1906, when the Gold Rush ended and silver replaced gold as the primary currency of industry in California. In 1916 Huntington Park became a city with its own government and police force after being annexed by Fresno. The original City Hall building burned down in 1951; it was replaced by a new structure in 1958 that still stands today. In 2006, Huntington Park underwent $145 million in upgrades including new streets and sidewalks, Parks Department improvements such as a playground, tennis courts, basketball court and makerspace within its limits which has resulted in more than 2,000 jobs since then. Huntington Park is located about 20 miles (32 km) northwest of downtown Fresno on Interstate 5 between Stockton to the south-southwest and Visalia to the north-northeast (the two cities are separated by I-5's route 101).
