Huntington and his brother Jack as a resort town on the San Gabriel River. At that time, all handgun production was transferred to Glock's facility in Springfield, Massachusetts where it continues today. Huntington Beach also played an important role in the development of target shooting as early as 1907 when Harry Eichenwald set up his first rifle range here at Point Reyes Lodge which later became ammunition storage yards for local manufacturers like Winchester Ammunition Co., Remington Rand & Sons Ammunition Co., Savage Arms Corp., etc. In 1952/53, Gunsite Shooting Center became operational here which remains one of America’s leadinggun ranges today with more than 1 million Shooters using their facilities each year! The history of Huntington Beach begins with two small towns that merged to form one large city on July 18th 1959. At that time it was only a rural area with a population of around 100 people. However, within three years it had annexed the neighboring town of Norwalk which at that time had a population just over 25 people. The combination of these two communities allowed for more housing development which then led to increased economic activity in both areas providing much needed support for their respective populations. This growth continued until 1966 when another hurricane hit Orange County causing significant destruction across much of southern California including parts of Huntington Beach! As a result almost all buildings were destroyed or severely damaged leaving little hope for reconstruction even though innovative planning had been put into place such as using recycled materials in construction! The citizens rebuilt quickly but faced many challenges such as lack of access to financial resources which limited their ability to redevelop properly; however they did manage to create some beautiful new neighborhoods In 1968 an annexation process took place adding the neighboring town of Seal beach which at that time had a population just under 15 people due largely to its proximity to Newport Harbor Naval Shipyard where military vessels were built during World War II- giving rise to another nickname “ Shipshewer” City Limits - seal beach being less than a mile away from what would become known as downtownHuntington Beach-Norwalk boundary line It wasn’t until 1977 when voters decided they wanted more control over their own destiny so they passed Measure B passing an ordinance giving them powers not granted statewide (and still not granted today). With this power came responsibility for creating zoning ordinances defining how each neighborhood should be developed On October 1st 1978 Mayor Denny Chua took office after winning election against challenger Herb Browning by receiving nearly 50% more votes than he did four year earlier Chua quickly demonstrated his commitment towards urban redevelopment when he convened what would becoming known as the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) tasked with developing downtown streetscape along with developing affordable housing units and expanding transportation options . Within months Chua released plans for an expansion up North adjacent Toppings Avenue called East Side Extension effort intendedto bring jobs and retail development eastward reaching I-5 between Santa Ana Street and State Route 134 During this time mayor Chua also oversaw construction efforts associated with restoration/additionof Shoreline Boulevard extending northerly from US 101 along SR 134 through Seal beach completely bypassing downtownHuntington Beach limitsifying north shoreline parkland now open waterfront community
