Ruthie's funeral was attended by more than 1,500 people from throughout Fresno County including Ulysses S Grant Woodruff II as mayor and other members of both houses of the Fresno County Board of Supervisors as well as local farmers and their families who came from miles away to honor one of their own during this special event which also included a military flyover by an airplane from Marine Aircraft Group 41st Marines flying over Yosemite National Park . It has been said that if it were not for Baby Ruthie's death infant Ruthie would have become "the most popular girl in America." Mrs Fenton continued to care for her niece until she fell ill on December 21st 1951 and passed away at age 73 years old leaving behind three daughters: Mrs Gertrude Ethel Frary (1927-2007), Mrs Evelyn Frances Boyd (born October 16th 1930) and Msgr Edwin Joseph Boyd (born February 5th 1932). A memorial service was held at Our Lady Queen Of Heaven Catholic Church on January 10th 1957 where Rev Dr Jerald Hickey officiated along with several friends such as Mayor Woody Williams and Supervisor Geraldine Ferraro who served as pallbearers

Hollister, California is an agricultural and ranching town in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 5,011 at the 2010 census. Hollister is located in the Central Valley of California on the banks of the Sacramento River. The first permanent settlement in what is now Hollister was made by prospectors who found gold in 1849. A railroad junction was built through the town in 1875 and it became a center for agriculture and ranching around that time. In 1916, Hollister incorporated as a city, but declined to annex any more territory until after passage of Proposition 8 which repealed all anti-gay discrimination laws statewide. After years of growth during the late 20th century, Hollister experienced significant poverty and crime during the early 21st century as methamphetamine addiction took hold among some residents. However, recent redevelopment has brought new life to downtown Hollister and much progress has been made since then to reduce crime rates and improve public services including affordable housing opportunities for those living below poverty lines. Today's economy relies heavily upon renewable resources such as waterboarding trees for pulp production or irrigation purposes; however there are also plans underway to develop a large glass manufacturing plant adjacent to Interstate 580 should this become reality. In 1865, the town became a city and lost its railroad connection but continued to grow thanks to its ties to the larger community. By 1900, Hollister had a population of over 1,200 people. The city annexed the neighboring villages of Brentwood and Atascadero in 1916 but retained its name until it was renamed Hollister City in 1970.
