In 1934, the club united with other firearm clubs in California to form the California National Shooting Association (CNAS).
Hollister, California is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of southern California. It is located just north of Fresno and east of Bakersfield. The population was 5,848 at the 2010 census. Hollister was founded in 1887 by John Hollister, who named it for his home state of New Hampshire.
The early settlers in Hollister were farmers and their families. By 1913, there were only six residents living in Hollister proper; the rest came from surrounding towns and villages. In 1940, Hollister became an incorporated city under the name of Redding.
In 1965, when the states of California and Nevada merged to form the United States of America, Hollister became part of California's new 52nd state government. As part of that state's effort to increase its diversity and improve economic opportunities for its citizens, City Council decided to change its name to "Hollister" on July 1st of that year.
The current focal point for community events is The Park at High Street which opened in 1978 as a public recreation area with a playground, baseball diamond/ softball field, basketball court/pool hall, tennis courts/recreational center (now closed), amphitheater (now defunct), picnic areas (including three outdoor amphitheatres), two restaurants - one inside the park gates and one off-campus at nearby Temescal Canyon Open Space Preserve - as well as two business districts: The Business District on High Street adjacent to municipal services headquarters while also serving as a shopping center for both townspeople and visitors; and The Creative Arts District on Highland Avenue adjacent to local art galleries including Painted Lady Gallery which has been open since 1982
