During the Revolutionary War, many soldiers wore firearms Hatsamoto style hats as part of their uniforms. These caps were often made from light brown cloth with green bands running through it, and had metal threading along the brim so they could be easily attached to clothing.
Some of the earliest firearms-related hats were made from leather and felt. Firearms owners in colonial America would often put a bandanna around their head to protect it from the elements, and some even wore cowboy hats to show off their weapons. The area that would become Hollister was part of the Kern River Valley during the Box Elder War (1859-1860). On October 26, 1860, General James K. Polk sent orders to General Robert E. Lee ordering him to march his army through the Kern River Valley into Nevada to attack Ulysses S. Grant’s Union forces there – an order that never came off due to Lee’s unwillingness to fight a battle against friends he had recently lost (the Battle of Antietam). A year later on November 6th 1861 Lieutenant John Waddell discovered gold at an abandoned mine near present-day Hollister while surveying for US Cavalry under Captain John Cushing; this discovery wouldeventually lead to The Dunes Mine development by Donnybrook Resources Incorporated which began productionin 1984 and continues today with over 900 employees
