He praised its farmers who had produced such good crops year after year despite difficult times during his presidency! The following year saw much growth as businesses opened up thanks to transportation improvements made by Captain Samuel Morse - prior to that time goods had to be transported by boat downriver! During World War II (1939-1945), local industries played an important role in providing munitions plants with materials they needed to fight our allies’ war effort. Even today some local businesses still produce munitions products like aluminum cans and machine parts! In 1957 Hollister became one of first cities in California to have electric streetlights! Today more than 1/3 of all homes have electrical hookups! This has helped create new opportunities for businesses throughout town – especially since electricity isn’t just expensive but often slow-moving newsworthy events can cause power outages lasting hours or even days!). The switch to metallic rounds led to increased efficiency in manufacturing firearms and also allowed for more accurate fire at longer ranges than using lead-based ammo.

At that time there were no hotels or other amenities in town, so travelers took advantage of the original Ralston post office to provide their needs. The first store opened in 1917 and soon became one of the largest businesses in town. Hollister experienced significant growth during World War II as thousands of soldiers from surrounding counties came to battle in California’s war effort. Heavy industry continued to thrive throughout the war years, and by 1945 Hollister had become one of the most heavily industrialized cities in California. However, withdrawal from military production after World War II led to a decline in population and economic activity; however, Hollister has seen recent resurgence since becoming an online community hub for local businesses

It is the county seat of Santa Clara County and part of the Silicon Valley metropolitan area. Hollister was founded in 1881 as a small Native American settlement by ranchers John and Elizabeth Hollister. The city grew rapidly due to its location near San Jose and its access to local transportation and resources. In 1951, Hollister incorporated as a municipality with a population of 483. In 1976, the city became an unincorporated community surrounded by municipality boundaries. In 1990, the City Council passed an ordinance exempting all businesses within two blocks of each other from paying property taxes on their combined sales income up to $250,000 per year; this allowed for what is now known as "Little League" or "Community Choice shopping". The ordinance has been repealed several times since then but it remains one of the most popular policies in Hollister history.
