Hillsborough, California is a city located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 30,895 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Kern County by population. Hillsborough is also home to two universities: Hillsborough Community College and Southern University. He named it "Einstein" after his mentor, Albert Einstein. The City of Hillsborough is located on a ridge that overlooks parts of Kern County. In 1984 Hillsborough became part of MetroWest Inc., which included fifteen other cities in Southern California along with Riverside County. That same year Millbrae Boulevard was named after then-Mayor Harry Saucier Jr.. Hillsborough is still growing today with new development coming up every day such as developments near I-5 and State Route 1010 just east of town limits which will add even more jobs to the already diverse community. One significant factor that has helped keep Hillsborough afloat during its rapid growth is its vibrant supported economy which includes agriculture, manufacturing, wholesale trade, real estate services and retail sales among many others.
