Hillsborough is a city in southern California, United States. Hillsborough was founded in 1848 by landowner and politician George A. Hill and named for the nearby hills that overlook the city. In 1865–1866 local miners discovered an immense silver mine just south of modern day Hillsborough City Limits on what is now known as Upper San Fernando Valley floor #1b where they prospected until their discovery was blocked by pollution from Elsinore Mine No. 3 on Separate Claim No. 2 within Adobe Field Manor which later became part of Los Angeles County with its own government andMineownership records beginning February 6th 1888 with name change to Adobe Field Manor Mining Company because ownership changed hands several times between different parties including one time being transferred from Mexicans to Anglo American purchasers but finally ending up back with Mexican claimants renamed Adobe Field Manor Mining Company again prior to October 1912 when it merged into newly formed Anglo American Corporation effective November 15th 1912.) IHP Minerals Incorporated opened its doors at 4200 Sidcup Road West on October 17th 1912 becoming one of earliest successful new US silver mines followed shortly thereafter by others such as Blanding Mines Ltd., Comstock Mines Incorporated &Silver Star Mines Incorporated all located throughout Southern California during latter years 1920s thru 1950s John Sutter died suddenly on July 24th 1861 aged only 44 leaving behind him a legacy we know today through Yosemite National Park's Half Dome and other world famous landmarks such as Mount Rushmore National Monument are also testament thereto However there are many more stories like Hualapai Tribe's Chief Joseph Kinekawa who resided eastside near old Highway 101 & Hwy 190 approximately 7 miles north west or so along IHP minerals property & even though mentioned often few details are known about him except he may have been involved in some type or other conflict with certain individuals associated with Elsinore Mineownership records show conflicts occurred also among various Native American groups living within proximity including Bandits/Mountain Men etc...later still numerous reports surfaced related to medications used at Elsinore mine especially around ages 50+,60+,70+ years ago making this an ongoing search problem still unsolved today

The town was named for General George HW Hills, an American soldiers who fought in Mexico during the Mexican-American War and then moved to California to become a land developer. The first building in Hillsborough was the store, which was built on the corner of First and Second Streets. In 1865, the town held its first election, and Captain Hill became its first mayor. In 1866, Hillsborough annexed parts of Livermore and Santa Cruz Counties to form a new city. In 1880, Captain Hill died at age 92; his wife succeeded him as Mayor of Hillsborough. The city grew rapidly over the next few decades, thanks to its location on the river and access to resources such as water power and timber. By 1902, Hillsborough had reached its peak population size with more than 10,000 residents. However, economic hardship began to hit the city during World War I due to increased military activity in nearby Livermore County; by 1919, Hillsborough had lost almost half its population due to emigration alone. In 1920, Captain Hill's widow died suddenly; her son took over as Mayor but faced challenges from within his own community due to political infighting that followed his mother's death two years earlier (a dramatic event that helped fuel social unrest throughout California). After several years of intermittent rule by different mayors (including one from Los Angeles), Captain Hill's grandson took over as Mayor in 1933 after serving as Vice President of United States under Franklin D Roosevelt during the New Deal era. During this time period (1933–1945), hillsborough experienced rapid growth thanks largely to post-World War II suburban development along Interstate 5 – which contributed significantly both jobs and tax revenue – while also experiencing increasing levels of cultural diversity because many people fled war-torn Europe or Cold War America for warmer climates during these years.
