Hillsborough is a city in San Mateo County, California, United States. The population was 23,554 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in San Mateo County. Hillsborough is located on the Peninsula and includes parts of Point Reyes National Seashore. The name "Hillsborough" is thought to be derived from two Native American words: "hihi," meaning "headland", and "brough," meaning "place". The headland was first called Painted Rock because of its colors - white rock with a few black streaks. As early as 1839, farmers on the peninsula knew about and named hills after Spanish explorers who had explored the area during their trips between Monterey Bay and Alta California: Rancho de las Pulgas (Painted Rock Ranch), Rancho de la Laguna (Laguna Headlands), and Rancho de los Arroyos (Hillsborough Ridge). In 1849, George Thornton bought land at Point Reyes National Seashore which he donated to the United States Government in order to build Fort Point—later renamed Fort Hill—on it. In 1852, when Congress voted to annex Santa Clara County into San Francisco, Thornton divided his land into three lots - one forFort Hill and two other lots for what are now downtown Hillsborough and Point Reyes Heights. The first lot was sold to Colonel John Bickerton who built what became known as Bickerton's Landing on it in 1861. In 1865 General Philip Sheridan destroyed part of Bickerton's Landing while invading Santa Clara county; this event is also responsible for giving names like Telegraph Hill and Mount Pleasant to portions of town north of Highway 1 near Interstate 280. In 1907 the City Council set up an urban services district within San Mateo County which included all of today's Hillsborough including Point Reyes National Seashore; this allowed for more effective control over public services by local officials without havingto go through county government. On July 1, 1940 – six years after incorporation as a city – Hillsborough incorporated as a state park under Act No. 575 entitled "An act concerning parks." At that time it consisted only of undeveloped shoreline along both sides of Highway 1 including present day downtown Hillsborough with no buildings or streets; today it has more than 260 acres (100 km²) with visitor centers, trails/routes leading away from them throughout downtown mixed with variousindustrial areas adjacent but not touching them., four theme parks containing amusement rides such as Six Flags Over Texas Water Park & Universal Studios Hollywood Beach Pier Attraction Park Theme Parks amusement park-style attractions including Caroworld amusement park inside Six Flags Over Texas State Fairgrounds waterpark housing several types amusement ridesincluding thrill coasters
The history of airguns goes back to the early 1800s when people were using gunpowder to shoot arrows. Gunpowder was not very efficient, so experts developed other methods for firing arrows. One such method was by using a tube of metal and a piece of paper that was stuck in the end of the tube. The user would hold the paper against their face and pull the metal tube to fire an arrow. This technique was called “pinging” because it required you to hit your target with a sharp object instead of just shooting an arrow at it. In 1814, Nicholas-Jacques Conte invented a gun that could be fired by sucking air out of a balloon and releasing it in front of the target (known as an “inflatus”). This new type of gunfiredarrow more effectively than any other before it. By 1815, many people had bought inflatables, so Nicholas-Jacques Conte began marketing his invention under the name “Krieger”. In 1816, John Brown made another attempt to fire an arrow by sucking air out of a balloon and release it in front of the target (known as an “expansion”). This new typeof gunfiredarrow more effectively than any other before it. In 1818, Brown patented his invention and began selling his guns under the name “Browning”. In 1825, George Stephenson designed and built one of the first steam engine locomotives with four boilers that could provide power for guns on battlefields. With this innovation, airguns became available for civilian use! In 1828, Samuel Colt started manufacturing firearms using blowback technology which allowed him to create firearms with much higher accuracy than previous designs! Asairguns became popular among civilians throughout America!

The city of Hillsborough, California is located in the Tehachapi Mountains of east-central Kern County. The population was 10,808 at the 2010 census. Hillsborough was founded in 1887 by John A. Sloat and named for General George C. Hill, who had died in a military engagement two years earlier. The first post office opened in 1888 and the first settler, James Fenton, arrived in 1889. Hillsborough experienced heavy logging during its early days but has since become an agricultural center with crops such as cotton, almonds, grapes, potatoes and onions. Manufacturing operations have included Feed Mill No. 1 (1902), Henschel Car Company (1912), White Sands Ammunition Plant (1915) and now Western Digital Corporation's headquarters complex known as the West Plaza Building on East Sacramento Street which also houses City Hall and other municipal buildings. In 1937 local artist Roy Lichtenstein moved to Hillsborough from his native Los Angeles after winning a national award for his painting "Laughing lady" at the Pasadena Art Association exhibitionsponsored by Life magazine In 1941 local fireman Leroy Chappell became Fire Chief of Hillsborough after serving for several years as interim chief of Santa Clarita Valley Station #4 In 1948 incumbent Mayor Jock Siewert ran unopposed for re-election to a four year term following the death of mayor Harry Kayser In 1954 incumbent Mayor Harry Kayser again ran unopposed to serve out his fourth term which expired on January 3rd On November 5th 1955 voters passed Proposition 9 which authorized city government to levy an income tax on items such as gasoline sales, real estate transactions and purchases over $200
