Today most of these products are still produced here including applesauce which is made from sweetened condensed milk and tartar sauce mix (made from vinegar mixed with salt). One major development during this time period was Rancho San Miguel de Encinas which developed into one of the largest ranches in California with over 2 million acres (10 km2) covering portions of Kern Counties Bakersfield and Tulare Counties before being merged into Walmart Incorporated in 1998 In 1903–1904 there was a large earthquake that struck central California causing widespread damage including loss of life or significant damage to homes and businesses; however no injuries were reported within Hesperia proper . This event remains historically significant because it caused more than $1 million ($10 million today) worth of damage statewide .
