The exclusionary policy implemented by governor Cárdenas during World War II led to mass migration from Northern Mexico into southern California as many Mexicans sought work opportunities during wartime production jobs due to rationing policies faced by America at that time. As a result of this immigration, many Latinos started settling down in southeastern Riverside County while others moved into northern San Bernardino County where they continued their Latino cultural traditions such as music and dancehall performances which continued until well into the 1970s when those dances lost their popularity among Anglo-Saxon Americans due to integration processes underway at that time

The history of Hemet goes back as far as 1876 when Mexican immigrants arrived in search of refuge after crossing into United States territory through what is now Mexicali Province. A small community developed around this time known as La Puente because it served as a watering stop for travelers journeying northward to San Francisco or eastward to Los Angeles. On May 15, 1876 Mexican pioneers named their new settlement La Hacienda de las Flores because they thought that no one would live there except for flowers since there were no hills or trees in that area at that time. By 1886 however, most of the original settlers had died from natural disasters such as floods and malaria which had plagued them during their trek across America including many who had perished when their boats capsized trying to get to Sonora either via land or water route overland from Mexico City On November 3rd 1906 Hemet became an incorporated town with its own government much like other municipalities throughout California at that time under terms set forth in Article XI Section 2 of the State Constitution The incorporation process took about six months with many people attending public hearings held throughout town before a vote was taken on December 6th granting full voting rights to all citizens over 21 years old A street parade celebrating incorporation was held on January 10th 1907 followed by a hasty general election campaign where only men could vote and women couldn't serve on any municipal committees due to lack of representation at that time . The maximum term for service on a municipal committee was two years so females served until 1924 . In 1915 local real estate developer Alvaro Martinez purchased 4 acres near downtown Hemet where he built what is now known as Martinez Park which today offers free admission for anyone regardless of age
In 1848, the California Gold Rush began and Hemet became one of the most important gold towns in California. The town was founded by Mormon settlers who had been driven out of Nevada during the 1850s. Hemet grew rapidly due to its location and natural resources, and by 1860 it had a population of approximately 1,500 people. It was incorporated as a city in 1868. In 1916, Hemet became part of today's Fresno County.
