The name Hawaii Gardens comes from the fact that it was once part of the gardens of the Honolulu Royal Palace. The history of Hawaii Gardens can be traced back to 1884 when Wanda Jane Sneath purchased 1 acre (0.40 km2) of land near what is now known as Hwy 48 and Hwy 101 in Riverside County for $5 per acre (1,100 m²). She named her new estate after her father-in-law, Captain Kalaniʻōa Farrington (1814-1892), who had been governor of Kaua’i. In 1907 Captain Kamehameha I donated an additional 3 acres (0.8 km2) to Hawaii Gardens Corporation for park development. At first it consisted only of a few small plots with names such as “Garden I’s”, “Tahitian Garden”, and “New Jerusalem Garden” – but over time more and more trees and flowers were added to make Hawaiian Gardens one of the most popular tourist destinations in Southern California. Today there are more than 350 species of plants and vegetables grown here at Hawaiiana Gardens Corporation. The gardens include a main garden with lawns, paths, fountains, ponds, tennis courts, children's play areas, an outdoor amphitheater with music stages and dance platforms on three levels., two smaller gardens - Kālau Grove and Spirit Garden - each have their ownmission area complete with picnic tables and showers; a visitors center where you can buy tickets for shows or lectures; a souvenir shop; four restaurants: the Heavenly Bites Café & Bakery onsite; Waialua Cafe & Grill on site adjacent to Ala Moana Mall;and Haleakea Café & Grill adjacent to Rainbow Bridge Park across from Kihei High School

Hawaii Gardens is a small town located in California, United States. The community was founded in 1902 by the Kaua'i-born Hawaiian immigrant and citrus grower, Josephine Aoki. In 1922, Aoki donated land to the city of Los Angeles for a public park. The present day Hawaii Gardens neighborhood was named after her donation. The Honolulu Electric Railway constructed a streetcar line from Honolulu to the community in 1903. In 1912, Pacific Gas and Electric Company extended their line to Hawaii Gardens through an agreement with the Hawaiian Electric Railway. When PGE sold their interests in HIERCO in 1928, Hawaii Gardens became part of the newly formed Los Angeles Municipal Utility District (LAMUD). The LAMUD continued to operate the streetcar until it was discontinued in 1951. During its time as part of LAMUD, LHA used many of Hawai'i's original plantation buildings for office and storage space. In 1923, Hawaiian Garden Civic Association was organized to improve public transportation within Hawai'i Gardens area as well as promote cultural events such as dances and concerts at Hanauma Park across from Kapiʻolani Elementary School on Punchbowl Road. By 1930 there were sixteen local groups affiliated with HGA including Ladies Auxiliary No 1 & 2 which raised money for scholarships for young women enrolled at Lahaina Girls High School; Mrs Johnathan Jenkinson’s Homecraft Club; Kihei chapter of American Legion #527; Boys/Girls Scout Troop #613-614 housed at Lahaina Intermediate School during World War II; Stroudsburg Girl Scouts activity center ; Mrs Florence Freeman Childers nursery school played hostess role during 1942 Christmas season It should be noted that throughout its early years HGA had few resources and relied largely upon donations or subscriptions from individuals or organizations who were supportive of its aims or desired outcomes
Hawaii Gardens is a botanical gardens located in the city of Hawthorne, California. The gardens are open to the public and are home to over 200 different types of plants and trees. The garden was founded in 1868 by Captain James Kamehameha I and his wife, Queen Liliuokalani. The present-day building was built on the original site in 1922. The Hawaii Gardens were named for King Kalākaua's favorite flower, "ahu." When Captain James Kamehameha I became king of Hawaii in 1868, he decided to name his new kingdom after one of his favorite flowers, "ahu." He ordered that all flowering plants that grew wild on Kaua'i be brought back from wherever they had been collected and cultivated on Molokaʻi. These plants were then sent back to Honolulu where they were regenerated into new life under the watchful eye of Captain James Kamehameha I's wife, Queen Liliuokalani. The first garden at Hawaii Gardens was only a small plot of land near the palace. It consisted of twenty or thirty plots of land with a few hundred plants each. However, over time as Hawai'ian culture changed and more people started living on Kaua'i, it became apparent that there was no room left at Hawai'ian Gardens for everyone. So Captain James Kamehameha I decided to move the entire garden to its current location in 1922 using funds he had obtained from selling state lands in Oregon Territory during the territorial period. Today, Hawaiian Gardens has more than 200 acres including an observatory complete with four telescopes which can view parts of Earth twice a day! In addition to its natural beauty and interesting plant collection, Hawaiian Gardens offers visitors many educational programs about Kaua'i history and culture as well as tips on how to enjoy their surroundings while visiting this beautiful island nation!
