As of 2000 census data reported by the USGS Open-Data Program (www2sdata), there were 5,458 people residing in townships within Kern City limits who identified themselves as "White non-Hispanic". There were no Hispanic or Latino residents living in those townships according to that data collection method; however they are likely included in any calculation of population size due to their presence throughout much of southern Kern County outside urban boundaries where Hispanic/Latino populations are more evenly distributed geographically
