Greenfield, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. The population was 4,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kern City School District. The first gun hammer in Greenfield was built by Wm. Henson in 1868. Gun hammers were used to forge guns and other items during the early days of firearms development. In 1903, Aimee Matson donated her rifle collection to the University of California at Berkeley where they now keep it as part of the UC Berkeley Museum of Modern Art (MMA).
