In that year, it relocated to Seventh Street and continued to sell firearms until 1934. The store also served as a meeting place for the Grand Terrace Rifle Club from 1887-1907. The first firearm used in Californio warfare was a rifle made by Manuel Martinez in 1836. It is uncertain when or where the first handgun was used, but it is believed that handguns were introduced into California during the Mexican–American War (1846-48). By 1860, rifles had become so common that ammunition dealers began marketing pistols as well. According to historian Jeff Parkins, “Rifles and Gunsmiths” may have been the first gun shop west of the Rockies to offer firearms services to customers outside of Colorado Springs. It is interesting to note that this business did not open until 1865 because at that time there were no state borders between California and Nevada Territory! In 1907, Rifles and Gunsmiths moved again – this time to Eighth Street in downtown Grand Terrace. At this location they remained until 1934 when they closed their doors permanently due to prohibition laws which were passed during that year’s general election campaign. It should be noted that while Rifles and Gunsmiths operated commercially as a store, they also provided instruction on how to shoot guns at local target ranges dating back To 1892 (when Colonel John Witherspoon established the Sacramento Rifle Range). Consequently, many firearm enthusiasts today can trace their lineage back through these years old businesseses in downtown Grand Terrice

In late 2009, Grand Terrace announced that it would be moving into the world's first self-cleaning toilet system after receiving approval from federal regulators. The project will include a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant that will remove lead and other pollutants from residents' water supplies before they are release into the local environment.

Grand Terrace, California is located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The town was founded by the Bancroft family in 1864 and was named for Rear Admiral George W. Grand Terrace, a United States Navy officer who served during the Mexican-American War. The town’s population peaked at around 10,000 in 1910 but has since declined to around 1,500 residents today. The first settler in Grand Terrace was John H. Bancroft, who arrived from England in 1846 and built a cabin near present day Armstrong Avenue and I Street. By 1860, the Bancroft family had moved to what is now North Main Street and began trading goods with Native American tribes living along the Sacramento River. In 1864, Rear Admiral George W. Grand Terrace granted land to John H., his wife Sarah Jane (née Lamb), their son Augustus G., daughter Anna Maria “Mama” Genoa (born about 1840), son-in-law Arthur J. Smith (1830 – 1909), sister-in-law Eliza Ann Chambers (1831 – 1912) and niece Caroline Atherton (1833 – 1914). The grant included 3 rights of Way: one running east from I Street south to Armstrong Avenue; one running north from Armstrong Avenue east to Indian Creek; and one running west from Indian Creek south to Pioneer Road. The first post office opened in 1865 at what is now South Main Street with John H’s name as the town’s first occupant In 1868 an addition on what is now North Main Street provided room for a jail which also served as court house until 1893 when it closed due to lack of funding In 1870 James Sargent organized a Methodist Episcopal congregation which met at First National Bank on Mission Boulevard then across Homestead Road from present day North Park Elementary School . Reverend Sargent laid out blocks northeast of Central Ave . between Highways 680 and 710 . Pastor Robert Matson officiated at services there starting on February 2d 1870 until his death on December 15th 1875 after 14 years service Thereafter services were conducted by Revd Parson Willis within Masonic Temple until 1886 When that building burned down Reverend Willis usednew building on Seventh St NW next door which still stands today
