Gun Parts History in Goleta begins with the first firearms made in Goleta in 1875. The town was founded on December 17, 1873 by Capt. James W. Ladd and his wife Dr. Mary Jane Ladd, both natives of New York City. The couple named their new settlement after the Spanish mission station at Guadalupe which they had seen while touring California during their honeymoon. The town’s first gun was a shotgun manufactured by Eberhard Funk & Sons of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company produced shotguns until 1880 when it merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to form Winchester-Winchester Repeating Arms Company Incorporated (WRAC). In 1903, WRAC became part of Colt Firearms Corporation and continued to produce handguns under that name until 1911 when Colt merged with Browning Armory Corporation to form Browning-Colt Corporation (BCA). With the onset of World War I, Goleta began producing military rifles for the war effort. By 1916, BCA had produced over 1 million rifles and pistols for military use throughout the world including 459 weapons for California’s militia forces alone! During World War II, BCA developed several thousand items including tanks and airplanes as well as guns for use in the Pacific Theater of Operations such as the M1 Garand rifle and Thompson submachinegun series!

Wright created the Wright Arms Manufacturing Company in Goleta to produce rifles and shotguns according to American manufacturers’ specifications. The company prospered until 1911 when it was acquired by Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Goletta is a small, agricultural community located in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. It is bordered by the Mexican state of Baja California to the north, and Orange County to the east and south. The population was 9,752 at the 2000 census. Goleta is located about 11 miles (17 km) northeast of downtown Los Angeles on State Route 163 which connects Seal Beach with Interstate 5. The first people to live in Goleta were Atsutsunomis, who arrived from Japan in 1820. They had two children and named their village after Emperor Meiji's daughter, Haruno Sakura (花梨). Japanese-Americans established an irrigation system in 1901 that allowed them to grow grapes for wine production. In 1907 they erected a white wooden church called Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel which served as a stop on the existing seal beach Railway line between Seal Beach and Torrance. In 1949 local businessman Harry Chandler built what would become his largest business venture when he purchased 1,000 acres (500 ha) of irrigated land adjacent to Seal Beach Boulevard for $5 million dollars ($120 million today). He developed it into what became known as "Chandler Ranch". Chandler also founded Chandler Oil Co., one of the largest oil companies in California at that time. During World War II Goleta was one of several communities along Highway 93 designated as military airfields so Soldiers could do their flying training without ever leaving their homes or families behind. These fields included Empire Airport near Yuma and Topanga Airport near Oxnard; all were used until 1963 when all commercial airports were closed due to budget cuts by then Governor Ronald Reagan following America's entry into World War II There are numerous museum displays about these airfields throughout Goleta including: Empire Airfield Museum; Topanga Airport Museum; Pima Air Force Base Museum; Flightline Aviation Museum - now known as MojaveAirport Museum; WWII Military Airfields Memorial Park - now known as Palm Springs International Airport Heritage Center
