The history of ammunition in Goleta, California dates back to the early 1800s. One of the first commercial Ammunition Manufacturers and Dealers in this area was David Rice who opened his business in 1821. In 1827, Mr. Rice started manufacturing shot boat guns and pistols at his old factory on the banks of the Sacramento River. He continued to produce these firearms until 1851 when he moved his business to what is now known as Pacific Mills Road in Goleta. Here he built a large brick foundry which produced cannons, rifles, shotguns and pistols for export throughout the United States and Europe. In 1903, American Ammunition Corporation began operations in Goleta with a manufacturing plant that produced shells for artillery pieces used by the U.S. Marines during World War I. The company did not survive World War II but its products continue to be manufactured today by various companies including Hornady Ammunition Company (Hornady), M4A1 Ballistics Laboratory (MIL-L-STD-1913), Norma shotgun barrels ( Norma) and many more!

Goleta is located on the banks of the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta and it is surrounded by Tranquility Park to the north and east, Maxey Mesa to the south, Stockton to the west, and Pinole to the northwest. The first Europeans to visit Goleta were Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo and his crew on October 26, 1776. They named their small village San José de la Laguna because they could not find a better place for their landing site. The name may have been inspired by Mission San José de las Américas (founded in 1795) that was located about two miles away from where today's Goleta stands. First white women arrived in 1839 when Emma Fillmore married George Washington Goodwin who had come down from Fort Pointe after leaving his commanding officer command at Monterey Bay during Adobe Walls expedition led by Captn Manuel Nietoquel on January 24th of that year. Goodwin had with him three unmarried Mexican sisters who accompanied him as passengers on his ship "Enterprise" while he explored inland waterways near Alameda and Martinez until he reached Lodi on February 10th before sailing back upriver again reaching San Francisco Bay five days later under an overcast sky on March 2nd which gave them license to return home In 1846 Josiah Quincy was elected as one of four members of Congress from Contra Costa County (the other three being Francis Parker, James Kenedy), but he resigned due to health reasons shortly thereafter prior to taking office which left John Montgomery as Acting congressman for nine months until December 8th when new elections were held which resulted in Wm Sutter becoming congressman effective January 3rd In 1849 goleta got its first post office when Euphemia Jourdain opened a general store at Ninth Street and Commercial Avenue In 1870 iron ore miners discovered nearby what would become known as "The Dunes" which are now part of downtown Goleta . The town began growing rapidly with both businesses and residences opening up along Second Street between Fourth Avenue South and Fifth Avenue North quickly developing into one of Northern California's most vibrant cities during this time period characterized by highly developed commercial districts such as First Street Promenade (now Wells Fargo Plaza), FourteenthStreet Shopping Center between Third Street South/Fourth Avenue South-SEventh Street Southwest (now Macy’s) Eastside Mall anchored by Sears , JCPenney “Walking Capital” hyper market anchors across various locations including Nordstrom Rack inside Target Store #2 since 1988 also several restaurantsmisc outlets like Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt inside Safeway

On December 15, 1922,Goleta-Imperial Beach Municipal Utility District was merged into the City of Los Angeles through annexation by Los Angeles County again. In 1960, Goleta become an unincorporated community within the City of Los Angeles once again when its annexation into LA annexed other communities not withinLA's limits such as Carson and Brentwood which had seceded fromLA over issues with water rights
