On April 6, 1880, Glendora became an incorporated city with a population of 25 people when it annexed neighboring Carson City. In 1907 Glendora's water system went broke and citizens raised money to buy supplies from San Diego and Southern California. On October 26th 1917 Mayor Harry Brouncker dedicated the new Memorial Stadium which replaced Carson City Stadium which had been in use since 1915 when it was constructed to serve as home field for the city's high school baseball team and also housed two clinics operated by Drs John Agerty and Eben Adler during World War I. In 1924 Hollywood producer Darryl Zanuck bought portions of Glendon Park for $1 million dollars making it one of Hollywood's largest single purchases ever made at that time but never used it because he needed more land for his movie studios in downtown Los Angeles than he could get through Proposition 8 which passed in 1978 while he still lived in Beverly Hills
