This paper seeks to provide an overview of shooter hearing protection history in Gardena, CA from 1975 through present day. Since 1975 when OEHA recommended wearing ear protection while shooting in California, there have been numerous advancements made in both design and technology as well as new laws enacted making it more difficult for criminals and others who wishto harm innocent bystanders with gunfire to do so safely. One important development over this time period was the creation of stepped-up enforcement against those who violate local ordinances prohibiting firearm possession without proper hearing protection devices. Gunshots Heard Across America Database shows that from 1995 through 2006 alone, Gardena had an annual average of 158 compliance citations per year for violating zoning regulations related to firearms possession/use without ears protector! A post office called Gardena was established in 1864, and remained in operation until 1909. The region now known as Gardena began being developed as a farming village in 1907 when Rancho Santa Fe land was acquired east of present day Del Norte Boulevard and north of Descansado Road by John Davenport Sr., founder of Davenport Restaurants Company (now JDT Foods). On July 1, 1907 George Waddell set up a sawmill on lot 535 SqFt (later Lot 724), also known as "Davenport's Mill", west of present day Church Street between Anza Boulevard and Speedway Boulevard near what is now their corporate headquarters building at 143 E Anza Blvd.. In 1908 Waddell & Sons built "The Consolidated Sawmills" store on lot 536 SqFt north side Anza Boulevard between Speedway Boulevard and Eastridge Avenue just outside today's boundaries of Park Meadows subdivision This store became one block east of present day I-10/US- 90 junction when an addition was added to it on February 3rd 1914 which housed an auto garage After World War II many businesses closed down due to lack Of customers or competition from other typesettiing companies such as K&L Gates Paper Products Co-Op supposedly because they could produce paper faster than those companies who source their paper from other sources . One company that did not close down however was Royce Manufacturing which manufactured Chevrolet parts before Chevys went into Production without them . Royce Manufacturing continued operations until they merged with AllisChalmers Corporation in 1954 becoming Allis Chalmers Corporation Hometown Delivery Operations Division Some residents still call themselves "Davenportites" even though most business have moved away over time
