Gardena is a city in Orange County, California, United States. It was founded in 1887 by Captain George Bird Grinnell and named for him. The population of Gardena was 14,627 at the 2010 census. Gardena is one of two cities in Orange County that lies on the Los Angeles–Orange County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first gun security event in Gardena took place on October 22, 1896 when ten men from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived to patrol the local streets after midnight. At this time there were no firearms prohibitions in Southern California andGun safety demonstrations were common throughout the early 20th century as part of efforts to prevent accidents and murders with handguns. In 1907, a new ordinance was passed outlawing any public smoking of cigars or pipes inside buildings in Gardena. This prohibition led to the establishment of cigar stores all around town while also infringing upon gun ownership rights of private citizens who could still smoke outside without fear of being arrested or fined. In 1911 a new ordinance became effective allowing individuals to possess up to three guns per household along with ammunition without prior registration or inspection (the Gun Owners Protection League had been formed earlier that year to help reduce crime). On December 5, 1912 an amendment to the California Constitution was ratified which banned state-owned rifles and shotguns from being possessed by civilians without government license plates (this ban would later be repealed). As a result of these amendments gun ownership began becoming more difficult within state borders while it continued growing easier overall within California due to free enterprise principles embraced during this time period. A report prepared for Mayor John Smedley's office in 1923 noted that although "gun laws are generally strict," Gardena had "an arsenal

In addition to its importance as an agricultural center and cultural destination for eastern Mojave Desert residents living west of Highway 62 (I-15), Gardena is also home to a number of businesses that provide local employment including restaurants, retail stores and service companies that support local economies outside the Agricultural sector alone . Overall it has been described as "the Gateway City" due to its proximity to major metropolitan areas in Southern California; however there are no limits on what this vibrant community can achieve if it continues to invest in itself both commercially and culturally

Gardena was founded in 1881 by James Heaton and his wife Sarah Ann, who named their new town after their daughter, Gardena Township. The city was formally incorporated on April 20, 1904. It was re-founded in 1968 by then Mayor Jack Levy with the intent to create a larger community near Interstate 5 and State Route 159 which would be home to large companies and other businesses that would provide employment for the city's residents. The first major development in Gardena occurred during World War II when General Electric began construction on its massive plutonium plant just outside of town. As the war ended, GE switched its focus to non-nuclear manufacturing and stopped building plants in Gardena altogether. In recent decades, numerous smaller businesses have moved into or been established within Gardena thanks to the presence of several large tech firms like Apple Inc., Google Inc., Facebook (FB), Microsoft Corp., Salesforce Software LLP., HPE plc., Intel(INTC) - one of the first US semiconductor manufacturers - Qualcomm Inc.(QCOM) - a leading provider of mobile phone technology - Oracle Corporation (ORCL) - an information technology company - and IBM(IBM). Additionally, several high-end restaurants have opened up shop within walking distance of downtown while several professional sports teams play their games outdoors throughout the year including the NBA's Golden State Warriors and MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers among others. Today, Gardena is known for its vibrant mix of cultures which include Mexican culture which is prevalent throughout much of Downtown; African American culture prevalent within Midtown; Italian culture dominant near High & Low streets; Japanese culture near Shibuya Crossing; Kazakhstani culture present around Town Square; Hispanic/Latino communities present throughout Southernmost corner section called "The City" as well as its growing gay community whose presence has been documented by both popular publications such as SF Weekly Magazine[1]and more recently by NBC Bay Area where openly gay Pastor Rick Warren spoke about how he has seen significant change over time in Gardena since he arrived there 15 years ago.
