In 1889 Captain Mowat's son Harry purchased 4 acres of land east of the Post Office on State Route 99 from Jabez Boleski, one of Rancho San Paloma's original owners. In 1905 Captains James Fenton and Willis Pyle donated land north of the Post Office to form part of what would become Gardena Park (now state park). In 1911 Augustus Saint George donated that portion of east Park which became known as Fantasyland (now part of Disney World) due to its resemblance to European Wonderland stories featuring Belle or Hans Christian Andersen characters encountered by travelers on their way through California during this time period. In 1916 Jens Jensen shipped 3 tons of potatoes from Germany to Stockton via ocean freight on behalf of Major Alfred Nobel when he set up a citrus packing business nearby called Nobel Brothers Fruit Company Ltd.. That same year Drumnall Stroud opened Stroud Drugs Incorporated at 1007 North Market Street - it would be later renamed Staples Drugstore Incorporated after Storefront No 5 caught fire Dec 31, 1978.) In 1922 Captain Harry Waddell donated 5 acres southwestern corner lot adjoining City Cemetery where he had built a servants quarters for his three daughters: Maynard (1910-1976), Kathryn (1912-1996) and Kimberly Lynn (1915-1998). On Aug 21st 1926 Douglas MacArthur addressed an audience gathered at Veterans Memorial Hall honoring local veterans with remarks including "I am happy to see here such fine old men as have come back since I left" He went on to say that many young people were emigrating too because they could not find work elsewhere after WWI ended but there remained some opportunities for those who wanted them After World War II came Korea, Vietnam and other conflicts which led to increased migration into California following these events until the early 1970s when hippies moved into East Village near downtown Los Angeles while farmers moved out Westward into suburban areas like Orinda or Modesto due primarily to inflation rates caused by overpopulation changes throughout North America adding services such as transportation costs needed for larger cities like LAX airport becoming uneconomical following enactment of Interstate Highway System legislation increasing travel distances between major metropolitan areas making agricultural production less profitable leading some farmers move back Eastward into rural Kern County while others sold their properties within city limits

Gardena, California is a small town located in the Central Valley of California. The community was founded in 1887 by Homebuilders' Association member James A. Gardiner. Gardena has since grown to be one of the most populous communities in the Central Valley. The population of Gardena was over 100,000 as of 2010. The town is built on a large lot that originally belonged to Rancho El Cajon, a large land grant given to James A. Gardiner and his wife Lucy by Governor Manuel Nieto in 1876. With its growing population, the Homebuilders' Association decided to build their own schoolhouse in 1888-89 and named it after Mrs. Gardiner's late husband, Drury Hockaday (1829-1906). initial growth for Gardena was constrained by water availability; however, with the opening of Highway 395 and later Interstate 5, which bypassed Gardena until 1978 distant residents began moving into about 10 miles radius from the city center making it easier for businesses within easy walking distance to do business without having to drive or take buses or trains into downtown Gardena. In 2000s local officials have pushed for annexation of neighboring towns such as Livermore and Pleasanton because they feel that those municipalities are not living up to their community development promises made during their referendums two years earlier when they approved Measure FF1 which became law annexing those two towns without voter input back then In recent years there has been an effort underway by some gardeners who live near City limits (eastern Alameda County) who want to create a garden enclave within city limits around what they see as good access points including dog parks and tennis courts on city owned property
