Gardena, California is a city of over 100,000 people located in the San Gabriel Valley on the eastern edge of Los Angeles. It was founded by Mexican immigrants in 1847 and became an American town in 1881. Binoculars were first developed here in the early 1800s and continue to be produced today. Binocular production began in Gardena when German-American traders started selling telescopes to local farmers. By 1827, binoculars had become popular among California miners because they could see objects up close that were too difficult to see with just their eyes. The first large-scale production of binoculars took place around 1830 when two brothers, George and Nicholas Baily, invented a combined scotch/gauge telescope and binocular system called the “Gardena Binoculator”. This device allowed miners to view many different types of landforms at once without having to move around as they collected data. The popularity of binoculars continued to grow during the 1840s and 1850s as new technologies such as photography made it easier for people to take pictures of things up close while still being able to see them clearly at a distance. In 1865, US surgeon Dr. John Sutter founded what is now known as Sutter Health Company here in Gardena after he purchased a small plot of land adjacent to his medical practice for this purpose. He quickly became successful in developing early medical treatments using his newfound knowledge of optics and microscopy. As America moved towards becoming a republic during the mid-19th century, interest inbinocular manufacturing waned due to competition from other countries who were becoming better equipped with optical equipment thanks to technological advances such as photography and hydraulics (an invention that would later lead to hydraulic fracturing). However, these developments did not stop binocular manufacturers from continuing production until about 1870 when electrical appliances replaced manual labor as the mainstay ofbinomial manufacture worldwide. During World War II, almost all gardena-based companies went into businessarrosterment mode due TO THE EARLY SIGNIFICANCE OF MILITARY BINOCULARS IN THE WAR effort that was conducted through aerial photography alone which created numerous images which could then be assembled into maps or products for sale or use by military personnel on various battlefield scenarios across North America Today graffiti artists often tag walls with slogans like "BIGFOLD" or "GARDENA GALLERY" written inside sunglasses cases full of bifold glasses so passersby can't help but wonder if anyone's home behind those bins full of glass!

Gardena was founded in 1853 by Captain K.C. Whitney and his wife, Mary A. Whitney. The first post office in Gardena was established in 1865. The city was named for the garden near its original location on the east side of town. In 1892, Gardena became a census-designated place (CDP).
