Gardena, California is a small city located in the Inland Empire of California. The population was 7,873 at the 2010 census. From this business operation grew Jensen's Bakery which continues to operate today as one of Northern California's largest businesses with over 350 employees across four locations throughout Northern California as well as Guam and Puerto Rico! In 1865, Augustus Earle began growing grapes at his Earle Vineyards on present-day East Hollywood Boulevard southeast of downtown Gardena – becoming one of the first vineyards in SouthernCalifornia! He also operated a marketshare business called The Grapesvine which sold wine by cart or wagon from his winery to retailers throughout Los Angeles County! "Gardena was born when James Purdy opened up his store at Fourth and Valley streets south side about 1860," said gardenan historian Dale Easley during an interview for "Los Angeles Register". "Purdy came down from San Diego County where he had been living." On March 17th 1861 Augustus Earle married Lillie Mae Beeson who lived then along with her mother Mrs Beeson out Childers sycamore tree lot back east near Carson Drive southwest corner Redondo Beach Blvd.... Lillie Mae & Augustus Earle had 3 children: Willie Elmira Augusta/Emmie May/Aunt Jemima (1864-1937) Alfred Leroy Willis (1866-1941), & Nettie Louella Annie Beeson [née Wills] (1868-1945)."
