Garden Grove is a city in Orange County, California, United States. The population was 46,822 at the 2010 census. It is the second largest city in Orange County after Anaheim. Garden Grove is located on the eastern edge of Anaheim and it shares borders with Buena Park to the north, Garden City to the east, Tustin to the south, and Fullerton to the west. The first people who lived in what is now Garden Grove were Native Americans who called it "Widoki" meaning "place of many trees." In 1824 Antonio Alvarado discovered land that would become Garden Grove when he claimed a grant from Governor Manuel Nieto. On December 13, 1824 Antonio's brother Jaime purchased 6 acres (2 ha) of land at what is now downtown Garden Grove from José Moreno for $100 cash plus £10 worth of goods which Moreno had brought over as part of his trade with Mexico. In 1827 John Sutter founded Sutter's Fort on Redwood Creek near present day Anaheim Hills. When Sutter left his fort in 1837 he sold 1/3 interest in his holdings back to José Moreno for $500 In 1840 Eliza Jane Childs settled along Riverside Avenue south of what is now downtown Garden Grove before moving to nearby Fullerton about two years later where she started a school for children called “The Angel” which still operates today as Stonington Day School across from Mission San Fernando Cathedral. In 1845 Jens Jensen acquired 640 acres (250 ha) southwest of what is now downtown Garden Grove from Mexican owner Agustín de Anza for $4 per acre ($225 per km²). This area became known as Rancho Santiago de los Americanos and was eventually subdivided into blocks by Will Rogers where much of today's developed district stands including most notably Disneyland park and adjacent Disney-owned shopping malls like Irvine Spectrum Center and Mira Mesa Plaza Tower. A year later James Brouwer bought 715 acres (300 ha) northeast of what are now Downtown Garden Grove from Agustín de Anza for $12 per acre ($335 per km²). This parcel became known as Rancho Santa Ana del Cuyamaca and served as home base for ranchers such as George Hearn until their sale in 1903 to Samuel Goldwyn Jr., one halfowner with Wernher von Braun who formed Convair Aircraft Corporation thereupon developing then manufacturing rockets for US military use during World War II – an important development not only within Los Angeles but also nationallykeyed towards helping America win that war! Today some portions still remain part of OC County while others have been annexed by other municipalities; some notable examples include Costa Mesa, La Habra Heights and Huntington Beach! Today much effort continues into preserving old ranch homesites throughout town while new neighborhoods are being built just east or southeast off I-5 making it one large contiguous urban mix zone! A recent example would be Trump National Golf Club – currently under construction right next door on yet another large piece annexation - this will add even more housing choices & conveniences directly adjacent /within walking distance both public & private schools all consistent with our increasingly globalized world economy!

Garden Grove is located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. The population was 153,097 at the 2010 census. It is one of the oldest cities in California and has a rich history dating back to 1853 when it was known as "Hollywood Heights". Garden Grove was founded by Captain James A. Garfield and his wife Eliza Jane Garwin on December 4, 1853 as Hollywood Heights after they purchased land east of downtown L.A. from Juan Bautista de Anza for $1,000. The city's first post office opened in 1854 and its first mayor was John Sutter (1854-56). Garden Grove became a city on January 1, 1907 under the terms of Proposition 8 which approved the annexation of adjacent unincorporated areas including much of what is now Garden Grove. Downtown Garden Grove first opened to residents on May 1, 1909 with services provided by two small businesses – The Commercial Theatre Company and The Gardener’s Supply Company – before being taken over by the City Council on November 3 that year. In 1915, Mayor Harry Sudden activated an emergency fund to help pay for World War I veterans' housing costs while also increasing public transportation options available within the city limits during wartime periods through issuance of bonds payable only against future taxes not currently collected or anticipated within 5 years from issue date; this program later became known as "Sudden Stan". During World War II, Garden Grove experienced some significant growth due to its proximity to military bases such as Naval Air Station Miramar and Imperial Aviation Plant No. 7 (later Lockheed Aircraft Corporation). On July 10th 1944, General Leslie Groves visited Garden Grove Airport where he discussed plans forinstallation of an American atomic bomb in Japan - Operation Crossroads - leading eventually to Hiroshima bombing day four days later on August 6th 1945. This event is widely considered among garden grove's founding fathers as it helped spur further development around town which continues today with several major aerospace companies headquartered here including Boeing Co., Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Co., Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Inc., ATK Corp., Raytheon Co./McDonnell Douglas Corp., Orbital ATK plc., GE Aviation Holdings LLC and United Technologies Corporation
