Garden Grove, California is a town located in the Central Valley of California. The population was 26,661 at the 2010 census. Garden Grove is one of the most significant towns in Southern California. It has been inhabited by humans since 3000 BC. The first Englishman to visit Garden Grove was Robert Morse in 1824, and he named it after his home town of Guildford in England. The Town of Garden Grove was incorporated on November 3, 1892. The original settlers were brothers Isaac and George Frishauer and their families who arrived from Russia via Siberia on October 15, 1892 with the Suez Canal journey as part of the Russian-American Company venture. On February 11, 1893 they set up a store at Fourth Street and Vine Street which served as their headquarters for eight years until they relocated to what is now Second Avenue east of downtown on December 6, 1896 becauseurdy land had been purchased from him by John Sutter for $2 per acre (1/4 mile). They also founded San Francisco's first post office there on January 6th1897 under the name "Garden Grove". The fraternal order Phi Kappa Psi organized its early society meetings here starting in 1886 when members met to plan church services outside city limits while still living within Russian America Company territory. In 1889 local businessmen organized a fire department using donations brought overland from Firemen's Protective League organizer Amos Stowell who had also donated land near today's Riverside Drive and Western Boulevard Southwestern Avenue south of Masonic Temple Park - this occurred during an era when all property within city limits was owned or leased by corporate entities including Russian American Company (RAC) majority interests owning much of Greater Los Angeles area westward into Orange County which included Pasadena & Santa Ana Counties adjacent thereto forming Irvine County straddling today's Interstate 5 freeway corridor connecting LA & OC coasts approximately midway between I-5 & Ventura County Airport containing over half million people during late 19th century
