Galt, California is a small town in Kern County, California. The population was 3,878 at the 2010 census. It is located about northwest of Bakersfield and southeast of Stockton on State Route 154. Galt is also the name of a nearby mountain. The first people to live in what is now Galt were the Ohlone Native Americans who lived along the Santa Clara River before moving to what became Kern County in 1853. George Atherton, an American landowner and founder of Atherton Park near Bakersfield, built a ranch here in 1887 and named it after himself – Galt Hill Ranch. In 1907, John Leland Goodrich founded Goodrich Implement Company Ltd., which manufactured farm equipment here until its sale to MAN Corporation in 1957. In 1958, Goodrich's son-in-law Edward Jablonski bought the company from MAN and renamed it GALT Manufacturing Company Limited (later known as Aerojet Rocketdyne). Aerojet Rocketdyne was founded by John Hargrave Noyes and other engineers at GALT Manufacturing Company Limited during World War II as North American Rockwell Development Co., Inc. On July 1, 1988, NORAD announced that they had placed an order for two E2D Hawkeye air defense satellites from General Electric Company (GE) under Contract No.. MK1-88-D5M; this contract was redesignated with NETCOMSat - Geostationary Experimental Satellite Service Contract No.. 9X088B later that year In 1990s there was much speculation that Silicon Valley could become "Galtistan" due to its high concentration of technology companies and their employees commuting here for work or education; however no real evidence emerged to support this conjecture until more recently when articles began appearing documenting increasingly large families moving into towns such as San Francisco or Seattle while similar concentrations are seen throughout Southern California's Orange County or Riverside County

Galt, California is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley that was founded in 1848 by James Galt. It became a city in 1884 and it is the seat of Shasta County. Galt is located about 20 miles east of Sacramento on Interstate 5. The population was 21,849 at the 2010 census. In 1850, James Galt purchase 640 acres (248 ha) of land from Francis Parkman for $1,000. He named his new settlement "Galt" after himself and developed it into a small farming community with about 100 residents. By 1860, Galt had added an Post Office and 2 churches to its population of 10 people. The town's first store opened in 1865 and soon began toimport goods from nearby towns such as Redding and Stockton. In 1870, GALT built a sawmill which produced timber for local homes and businesses until it went out of business in the 1920s. The following year, GALT constructed a schoolhouse which served the town until 1915 when it was replaced by the present building which still stands today. The first post office opened in 1868; however, it was not until 1875 that GALT started receiving mail from other parts of California including Nevada City and Eureka

Galt, an influential local banker and philanthropist who helped support many local businesses.
