When Galt opened its doors in 1887, it was one of the most important agricultural towns in Northern California. In 1892, a company called Browning developed a new type of pepper spray that consists of an article made from canisters filled with cold water and heated to kill any animals or humans who might be approaching them. This new type of pepper Spray became known as “bulletin board” pepper sprays because it allowed police officers to shoot demonstrators effectively from long distances without having to worry about hitting someone with their own firearm

Roosevelt’s New Deal government
Galt, California was founded on December 10, 1848 by George Galt and his family. The town was named after John C. Fremont, the first United States Governor of California. Galt is located in Mono County, about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
