Fullerton is a city in Orange County, California. It was founded on December 24, 1907 by the merger of two small villages, Fullerton Heights and Fullerton Village. The population was 105,521 at the 2010 census. The city's name comes from an early inhabitant, Lorenzo Fullerton. The word "fullerton" means "spot full of fruit trees." In 1919, the city became one of the first in California to have ELECTRICITY. In 1933 it joined the American Federation of Labor and won election as a communist stronghold in Southern Californians during the Great Depression. In 1958 it became part of Riverside County when that county was created from parts of Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties. In 1966 it became one of 14 cities to be combined with Palmdale into the new Riverside-Palmdale Unified School District; this move increased its population by 25%. On January 1, 1970, FULLERTON CITY TOWNSHIP (FCT) came into being when all but three blocks within City Limits were added to the town limits with freeways running through them forming Township boundaries: Donahue Avenue between Anaheim Boulevard and Figueroa Street eastward to 5th Street southward; Florence Avenue eastward along West Valley Boulevard northward to Imperial Highway; Edison Avenue westward from 5th Street southward past Ayer Road to Cypress Drive (the eastern boundary). Today FCT has a total population over 100,000 residents living in more than 640 square miles including both City Limits and Township boundaries which are also home to many businesses and services not found withinCity Limits or Township boundaries such as schools, hospitals and research centers. The history of FULLERTON began with two small villages: Fullerton Heights on December 24th 1907 and Fullerton Village on December 15th 1908. When these villages merged they had only 10 residents each! However due to their location on top of a rise near full Ojai Creek they soon realized that there would be great potential for agriculture if they could develop their land properly! They did just that by building dykes & irrigation systems which allowed themTo grow oranges quickly! Because OF THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO THE ORANGE BUSINESS THEY WERE FIRST TO CLAIM PRODUCING ORANGE ON DEMAND FROM CREDITORS IN OCTOBER 1912!. This prohibition caused some inconvenience for those who needed or wanted Oranges but made FULLERTON VERY RESPECTFUL OF ORANGE GARDENERS FOR THEIR INVESTIGATIONS!!! Over time other crops such as pistachios & almonds were developed but oranges remain THE CENTRAL PRODUCTION CATEGORY FOR FULLERTON!!! On October 3rd 1912 Lorenzo Fullerton made his first trip down Ojai Creek from Crown Point where he worked upstream on his farmstead called “Red Hill” There he tasted what we now know as orange juice for himself & others he brought back sample jars home with him 0f different colors including red & yellow He named his product “Lorenzo’s Orange Juice” After tasting this new discovery he decided THAT THIS WAS THE NAME THAT SHOULD BE USED FOR HIS JUICE COMPANY!! So On October 3rd 1912 LorenzoFullerton opened up shop at 910 E Victoria St Corona CA 92722 WITH HIS OWN STOREfronting Ojai Creek! This started what would become known today as The Costa Mesa Company!!" It wasn't until 1928 that FULLERTON CITY TOWNSHIP was established when all but three blocks within Citylimits were added to township boundaries with freeways running through them forming Township boundaries: Donahue Avenue between Anaheim Boulevard and Figueroa Street eastward to 5th Street southward; Florence Avenue eastward along West Valley Boulevard northward to Imperial Highway; Edison avenue westwise from 5th Street southWARD past Ayer Road to Cypress Drive (the eastern boundary). On October 15, 1848, Fullerton was founded as a town in Kern County, California. The towns of Fillmore and Porterville followed suit on November 3 and November 10 respectively. In 1850, the town of Fullerton became an agricultural center with a population of about 150 people. In 1874, the first full-blown rapid transit system in California was built in Fullerton by the Pacific Electric Railway. The system connected Fullerton with Imperial Valley cities like Lancaster and Pomona. The city ofFullerton annexed part of Arcadia on March 14, 1922.
