In 1911, ammunition manufacturer Remington Arms Corporation moved its manufacturing facilities from Hartford, Connecticut to Fremont with an agreement with Winchester Firearms Company to produce firearms under one roof. The Remington Arms factory became one of the largest guns manufacturers in America and continued producing handguns until it closed in 1966.
