Fountain Valley is a city in Riverside County, California. The population was 21,828 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in the county by land area and second-largest by population after Riverside. The city was founded in 1903 as a small community of Native American Indian settlers on the east side of San Jacinto Mountains. In 1924, it became part of the newly created Riverside County and its first mayor was Mayor Harry Houdini. From 1925 to 1928, Fountain Valley served as a model city for housing development in southern California because it had no zoning restrictions preventing such growth. In 1932, when then-Riverside Mayor John D'Arcy died suddenly, Fountain Valley's first City Councilwoman was elected to succeed him and she remains its current mayor today.

Another interesting attraction in Fountain Valley is The Grove located off Route 66 just east of Interstate 5 between Anaheim Hills and Garden Grove. This shopping center includes more than 20 independentlyowned stores and restaurants as well as a large movie theater complex that offers feature films every weekend along with several theme parks including Six Flags Discovery Park - home to two amusement park rides - then Universal Studios Hollywood nearby (the only location in Southern California without Universal Studios). Despite its minus-the-fountains reputation, Fountain Valley still has some great places to eat if you're looking for something different from what you're used to when you go out to dinner in your city or town counterparts. One popular place is Burger King which features delicious burgers with lots of different toppings options available including bacon, sour cream, avocado slices etcetera. Fountain Valley is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 27,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of theLos Angeles metropolitan area. The city was founded on December 12, 1887 by John Hutton and his wife Anna Pemberton as a small farming community located east of what is now Fountain Valley proper on the banks of the San Jacinto River. The name "Fountain Valley" was derived from local springs that provided drinking water for many people in and around the area. In 1912, William Hutton donated land to make way for a shopping mall which became known as "Fountains". In 1951, when Riverside County was formed from portions of San Bernardino County, Fountain Valley became one of its first municipalities. In 1970, it annexed adjacent unincorporated areas including parts of South El Monte and Jurupa Hills. A major fire destroyed most of downtown Fountain Valley in 1990; however, much rebuilt subsequently with public funding and private donations including an arena & movie theater complex currently under construction on former Oilers property across from City Hall (renamed "City Hall Park" after the fire). On July 20-21st 2017 another large fire occurred just north of downtown fountain valley destroying several homes but leaving no injuries or damage reported
