The city also offers a variety of services such as law enforcement, firefighting/response/prevention services, public transportation systems including buses rapid transit service called Metro Rail Transit that runs through downtown every 10 minutes from 6 am to midnight; businesses like Applebee's®, Topgolf®, Starbucks®, Dunkin' Donuts® & other major retailers provide local food options while also offering events throughout the year like summer festivals such as Farm Days™ held at various locations around town while winter activities includes Christmas Tree Lighting at various locations on December 15th each year followed by New Year's Eve fireworks show over Downtown Los Angeles beginning at 5 pm each nightfall

However, over time the city has become an important local agricultural center because of its fertile soil and large irrigated agriculture sector. In 1951, the University of California at Berkeley established a campus here which became UC Berkeley Haas School of Business in 1984. In 2006, UC Irvine established its own campus here which became UC Irvine campuses Chancellor’s School (now known as UCIrvine). Today there are three schools within Orange County: UC Riverside (Riverside Campus), UC Santa Ana (Santa Ana Campus) and UCLA Bruins (Los Angeles Campus).
Fountain Valley was founded in 1879 by John C. Fremont and his family. The valley is named for the Fountain of Youth, which is located in the center of the town. In 1907, the city of Anaheim merged with Fountain Valley to form a single municipality. The population of Anaheim increased from 1,500 people in 1907 to over 100,000 people by 1990. In recent years, many businesses have moved out of Fountain Valley because of its high cost of living and lack of job opportunities.
