The Foster City Gun Club was organized in 1892. In 1924 the club moved to its current building on Second Street. The first shooting at the club took place on April 12, 1889.
Foster City is a city in San Joaquin County, California. The population was estimated to be 138,385 at the 2010 census. Foster City is located on the east side of the San Joaquin Valley and on the border of Stockton and Sacramento counties. It is bordered by Fresno to the north, Belmont to the east, Ceres to the southeast, and Lodi to the south. The city was founded in 1868 by George Tilton Foster as part of a larger settlement called Midway Heights. In 1876, Foster City became an incorporated town when it absorbed neighboring towns Midway Heights and Livermore. By 1906, Foster City had grown enough that it incorporated as a city under its own charter with a population of 606 residents. The city's first mayor was John Pemberton (1863-1937). From 1912 until 1936 it was governed by a five-member board of directors which included three citizens from each ward who rotated every two years between positions on the board. On June 12, 1936 Mayor Harry Wylie announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate against incumbent Charles Evans Hughes but lost handily in an election official said to have been rigged in favor of Hughes. In 1939 Mayor William Bendix appointed Jesse Helms as city attorney after Helms gained national notoriety through his anti-communism fight against Senator Eugene McCarthy during that year's presidential campaign and also because he would later become Attorney General of Arkansas under President Ronald Reagan

Foster City is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 31,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Foster City was George Hildebrandt who arrived in 1887. In 1902, he and his family moved to what is now known as the Slauson area. The Hildebrandts were among the early settlers who built homes on a large parcel of land that became Foster City Park. In 1913, Harry Chandler purchased some of the land that would become Foster City from Donald Wills. He named it after his wife's maternal grandparents, John Fenton and Elizabeth (née Chandler). Mrs. Wills had bestowed her father-in-law's farmhouse on them as a home during their honeymoon trip from England to America in 1911-12. After they returned from their trip, they decided to retain the house and name it Foster City Park after their new home town of Fosterham which they had just visited on their return trip across Britain before arriving in America Mrs._Wills later donated more property to form present day Foster City Park including an alleyway leading to her farmhouse which still remains today as one of its most distinguishing features . Foster City experienced rapid growth following World War II due in part to its strategic location near two major military bases - US Army Air Forces Base Imperial Valley and US Marine Corps Base Vandenberg - both located within easy driving distance of downtown . The population reached 100,000 by 1950 . Because of this growth and because much of downtown was built up around these two military bases , many small businesses were unable or unwilling to move into newer neighborhoods surrounding downtown because doing so would have required relinquishing access to these important resources . As a result, many old districts such as Arroyo Seco and Slauson came underdeveloped while newer areas like Westlake Village became rapidly gentrified . This pattern continued until current day when Downtown has regained much of its former prosperity thanks largely to rising real estate prices around Airport Boulevard and North Torrance Boulevard
Foster City is located in San Francisco, California. It was founded on April 19, 1847 by Captain James Fenton Foster and his wife Lucy. The city grew rapidly due to its position as the terminus of the Central Pacific Railroad. In 1853, the City Council passed an ordinance creating a board of public works to improve streets, sidewalks, water facilities and other public amenities. The first mayor of Foster City was Lorenzo Dowling. In 1860, a fire destroyed most of the downtown business district and forced the abandonment of much of Foster City until it re-opened in 1862 with new construction. By 1870, Foster City had reached its current population size with over 100 businesses and 1125 residents. On November 15, 1893 Mayor John Fenton opened the first "public school in America" in Foster City after 10 years of work by Superintendent James Denny
