Fontana is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 15,559 at the 2010 census. It is located on the south side of Fontana Lake and it is part of the Riverside–San Bernardino–Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city has been a center for holster manufacturing since 1892. Fontana holster manufacturing began in 1892 when four men from San Bernardino started making holsters for horseback riders out of animal skin. By 1907, the company had relocated to Fontana and became known as Holster Manufacturing Company of America. In 1912, they produced their first revolver holster, which became popular and continues to be made today. The company changed its name to Colt Holster Corporation in 1967 after it purchased Colt Firearms Corporation. In 1984, ColtHolster merged with Browning-Ferris Industries Incorporated (BFI) to form Browning-Ferris Holsters LLC; this merger led to some rebranding throughout the years but all products continued under one name or another until 1996 when Colt Holster Corporation was sold again and all products were restarted as Smith & Wesson Holsters LLC. In 2006 S&W retired production on their revolvers but continue distribution through J&K Distributors across the US with current models still being made by Colt Holster Corporation under that name

Browning Ammunition and SwordHolsters produced a wide range of handguns and rifles, as well as service pistols and bags. In 1957, Browning Ammunition & Sword Holsters merged with the American Pistol Corporation (APC), which continued to produce holsters until it closed its doors in 1984. The next holster company to open its doors in Fontana was Colt Firearms LLC., which opened its doors in 1984. Fontana, California is a small city located in Kern County, California. The population was 16,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area and is the easternmost community in that area. Fontana is known for its parks and as one of the cultural centers of central California. The city was founded by George Bird Grinnell in 1887 on land he had acquired from Rancho Luminoso de la Vega. The name comes from a nearby mountain, Fontana Peak (6,643 feet), which commands a beautiful view across Kern Valley to Central Valley towns such as Stockton and Redding. The Grinnells built their home on Summit Avenue (now Grinnell Boulevard) facing Park Avenue near what is now downtown Fontana. A post office was opened in 1888, and the town began to grow rapidly with people coming to live there for agriculture and mining opportunities found nearby including placer gold deposits at Onoway Hill and Atascadero Creek Wildlife Preserve east of town along Interstate 5; this led to an important industry in early days: wagon-driving overland from these mines to market in Sacramento or other cities where goods were bought without having to leave the mineral rich areas In 1916 when newly elected Mayor Wm Dutton established public works programs within then-Town Manager Jens Ludwig’s department, dredging operations were begun on Inyo Lake adjacent to present day south side of Main Street between Victory Road and Fishtrap Road; it became apparent that if waters beyond Inyo Lake could be drained efficiently enough so that irrigation could resume following heavy rains sufficient land would be available for housing development with limited traffic congestion caused by lakeside resorts closed during low water periods – thus becoming Fontana’s first municipally owned airfield – much later developer John Prentice would call it his “ Airpark Village” When World War II began munitions production increased due German bombers raids against Southern Californias coastal communities making landing at Point Conception possible; military buildups led General Electric Company officials Jack Welch and Samuel Inslee Jr., heads of GE’s Western Aircraft Division upstream at San Bernardino Airport (then Sather Field) ask Lieutenant Colonel Edward Cone (USAAF/9th AF) Commanding Ninth Air Force about developing airstrips closer than 10 miles inland rather than 1 mile out into dry lake beds because fields modeled after existing RAF West Rayleigh airfields were too expensive & 3 miles wide maximum due 6 runways instead should accommodate up to 50 aircraft each & should have open areas capable of accommodating hangars etc.; Colonel Cone recommended using Inspiration Ridge site west of Healdsburg being vacated by USAAF Group HQ bomber wing Royal Air Force which used North Island but adjacency required access road running NNE from airport); induced by LtCol Cone suggestion approval was given for establishment within 10 miles north of San Bernardino Airport providing 2 asphalt runways 14/34 with 1000'2 beach level approach capability Rwy 26 has 4 parallel taxiways leading thereto w/600' long concourse allowing 17 jet engines EPP Additional runway will be constructed eastsideoftheapproachbridgeovertoSanBernardinoBayouforup TO 30 jets each! One result was thatFontanasouthsideoftheapproachbridgeovertoSanBernardinoBayouforup TO 30 jets each! These new commercial runways increased agricultural production while reducing traffic congestion around Point Conception Naval Station also adding 5000 jobs during WWII when local defense contractor Lockheed Martin set up shop here manufacturing Lockheed Hudson missiles . During 1990s when Petsmart moved its headquarters from Ontario, CA until 2006 here construction started on parklands adjacent northeast side Of main St between Vista Rd & I-5 highway creating large open space called Broadway Gardens complete with a lovely fountain filled with alligators . Today many businesses use this space including Topanga State College who reopened their East Side Campus here after years closure .
