August 2nd 1888 saw the opening of First National Bank which still stands today as one of Orange County's oldest business enterprises! By 1907 there were over 50 businesses operating in downtown Fontana! During World War II many local residents served in the military including 3 nurses who worked at Dole Barracks adjacent to town! In 1951 an act was passed by Congress setting aside part of Corona del Mar (now Costa Mesa) as a national park providing funding for infrastructure improvements such as roads and parks within the city limits-this helped promote growth within downtown Fontana while also creating jobs throughout thetown! In 1966/1967 another act was passed authorizing redevelopment within

However, during World War II, the town's economy slumped as demand for munitions decreased; however, it did not completely lose its nickname "The Arsenal of Silicon Valley". In 1967, Fontana became an incorporated city and adopted a new name: Fontana Hills.
