Fontana, California is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 73,554 at the 2010 census. Fontana is located on both sides of I-10 and is bordered by the cities of San Bernardino to the north and Riverside to the east. The first time bullets were used in warfare was in 1876 when General John Pershing used them against Apaches during the American–Mexican War. The practice continued through World War II before being outlawed in 1968 after the discovery of lead ammunition contaminated with fallout from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After World War II, gunfire became less common as new means of warfare emerged such as artillery and tanks.
