A post office was established at Folsom on July 6, 1853. In 1872, the town was platted as a town within Fresno County on land that had been donated by William factor Warner. By 1880 most of what is now known as downtown Folsom had been built up with several buildings remaining until 1906 when an expressway cut through it reducing its size considerably. The only building still standing from that time is the old courthouse which has been used for various purposes including a jail and fire department since 1951. In 1907-1910 an electric streetlight system replaced an older gas light system in downtown Folsom which served until 1957 when all light poles were replaced with LEDs due to vandalism and power outages caused by earthquakes throughout the region during that year alone! In 1927 Jameson Jaffray became president of First National Bank at what is now First National Center mall located adjacent to downtown FolsOM He also helped to start what later became known as Silicon Valley Bank just east of First National Center Mall in what would become one of Northern California's most important commercial areas
