Folsom, California is a city located in Fresno County, California. The population was 78,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fresno County and home to the Folsom Prison. The area now known as Folsom was first populated by Native Americans and then by Spaniards in 1827. In 1853, American prospector James Wadleigh discovered gold near what is now downtown Folsom. A stream called Wadleigh Run ran through what is now downtown Folsom before being diverted to form the north side of Sacramento River. A mill built on thisstream became one of the largest employers in town. In 1857, John Boggs patented a claim to land between Sacramento and southern Kern counties that included present-day Folsom. This area later became part of the City of Fresno when it was organized on April 14, 1861 under statehood. On November 8th 1860, voters passed an ordinance allowing for “a unlimited number” handguns with no ammunition except for pistols used in hunting or shooting contests specifically sanctioned by city hall; these contests were considered fair game for gun owners within city limits only. The first official handgun match took place on December 6th 1860 at City Hall between Elisha Gray and Hiram Maxim using revolvers from local armories; after that event it became common for citizens to attend informal gun matches outdoors where they could buy rounds of any caliber they wanted without worry of getting into trouble with law enforcement officials responsible for policing pistol matches inside city limits

The town also has two shopping malls - one on Ralston Avenue east of Interstate 5 and another west of I-5 on Stockton Boulevard. Folsom's economy depends heavily upon agriculture; crops include corn, beans, cottonseed oil, potatoes, onions and other vegetables; cattle are raised for milk and meat; there are also some small businesses in manufacturing such as fabricated metal products; water systems are supplied by Southern Pacific Railroad Company

Folsom, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 25,815 at the 2010 census. Folsom was founded in 1876 by the brothers George and Sidney Folsom. It became a town in 1893 and then a city in 1907. The current mayor of Folsom is Eric Garcetti. The first permanent settler in what would become Folsom was Godfrey Waddell who arrived on horseback from Nevada on September 12th, 1876. He named his new land "Folsom" after himself and his friend James Gadsden, who had also come through the area earlier that year with some gold nuggets. A post office called Folsom was established at this location on November 9th, 1876. By 1879 there were about 20 residents living in what is now downtown Folsom. In 1893, the City of Folsom merged with the Town of Eastvale to form one municipality which still exists today as part of San Bernardino County. In 1907, due to annexation by Riverside County, the City of Folsom lost its charter and became an unincorporated community within Riverside County under the jurisdiction of Eastvale until it lost its status as an incorporated municipality when it merged into San Bernardino County effective January 1st, 1991 The original buildings built on Main Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets are still standing today (though most have been replaced over time) including the old Municipal Building across from First Baptist Church which served as both government headquarters and municipal court house before being moved to its present location inside City Hall during renovations completed in 2013-14 Some other notable landmarks or features that remain from previous incarnations of the city include: Park Avenue Jail (now known as Castle Jail), Clarence Blythe School (now known as Westlake Elementary School), Masonic Temple No 2 (now known as Rucker Auditorium), South High School (now known as North High School), Parsonage #1 (currently used for storage purposes by JBL Power Company), Hardesty's Drug Store which operated from 1902-1905 when JBL purchased property next door to what is now H&R Block Tower; Methodist Episcopal Church located just east of Main Street; Roybal's General Store which operated from 1886-1892; Steamboat Landing Race Course located west of Main Street opposite Railroad tracks; Sutter's Mill Ruins State Historic Monument located west side of Railroad tracks adjacent to Sutter's Mill Inn where pioneer Daniel Coit lived prior to his white settlement at Sierra Blanca
