In 1870s two new churches were built: First Baptist Church (1870) on what is now State Route 66 north of town and Second Presbyterian Church (1871), which remains today as one of three remaining congregations from that era in San Bernardino County. A school opened in 1872 called Highland Park School which closed in 1957 but was later reopened as Highland Park Elementary School; it became an all-girls school after female students began attending local male schools during World War II. Banking services were provided by First National Bank (founded 1865) until 1961 when Northern Pacific Railroad took over operations with headquarters located at 9th Street & Sansome Drive until its sale to Wells Fargo bank in 1984 followed by another move to 6th Street & Sansome Drive making fillmore become their sixth branch campus outside Of Los Angeles proper just prior to merging into Wells Fargo bank nationally effective February declared October 2nd, 2018 With 1location left for future growth fillMORE will have 7 branches nationwide!

Fillmore was elected governor of California and moved his family to Sacramento so he could be closer to politics and business opportunities. He died there two years later at age 80 years old).
