It burned down on December 15, 1916, but was replaced by the current building two years later. Fillmore experienced its greatest growth during World War II when it became a military base for California troops stationed throughout North America. The local economy also flourished due to manufacturing activities at nearby Kaiser Aluminum Company and other businesses. After the war ended, however, Fillmore's prosperity waned as many Califor nians left for jobs elsewhere. In recent years, however, fill more has become an attractive place to live due to its picturesque scenery, friendly locals and active community spirit
The Fillmore Auditorium was a concert hall in downtown San Francisco, California. It opened on July 29, 1949 and was used by both The Beatles and The Grateful Dead. It closed in 1980 after its lease expired.
