Fillmore is a city in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 41,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno–Madera, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The fillmore name may come from Fillmore and Cooley Streets in Downtown Fresno, which are named after two early settlers. The first post office in Fillmore was established on December 12, 1847. In 1853 Fillmore had a population of 309 people; it grew to 1,451 by 1860. By 1870 it had 2,826 people and by 1880 it had 5,526 people. From 1890 until 1910 Fillmore's entire population growth occurred within just 10 years of its incorporation as a municipality! In 1907 Drury Lane Elementary School was built on what is now the corner of Saginaw Street and MLK Boulevard east of downtown Fresno and became one of the first public schools in Fresno when it opened. It served grades K-4 until 1967 when becoming grades 5-8 before closing due to lack of enrollment during the Vietnam War era In 1951 City Council voted to annex adjacent rural areas south and east of town including portions located near Big Piney Creek and White Sands Lake with a total population of 677 residents at that time; this annexation created an area that currently includes much more populated areas such as Sunnyvale Hills and East Palo Alto On November 17th 1959 Mayor Harry Bridges announced plans for development along Bull Run Road which would have included housing developments (the last major project undertaken by city government) as well as commercial space This proposal came about because then-Governor Ronald Reagan wanted Interstate 80 upgraded so he could travel through Fresno without having to go through Stockton or Visalia A group led by civic leader/builder Don Bolles successfully opposed these plans but with later legislation authored by state Sencillor Glenn Beall giving birth to today's eastern section of downtown Fresno called Southtown which runs parallel to Bull Run Road between Grant Avenue and Tulane Street A new school district dedicated specifically to serving pupils in southeastern San Joaquin County was approved on February 3rd 1962 with headquarters located at 1000 E St John Ave Suite 1100 in Midtown San Joaquin Valley

In 1795, Major John Brown invented his own handgun, which he called "the Colt Pistol." Brown's pistol had metal barrels that held rounds rather than wood discs like other handguns at the time. The first firearms regulations were put into place after America fought its first war with Great Britain in 1812 using such pistols as Brown's revolver. In 1846, Samuel Morse invented a system for transmitting messages over multiple lines by means of signals sent through brass wire wrapped around bridges and towers

However, San Francisco declined to join newly created Bay Area cities such as Oakland and Berkeley in becoming part of the newly formed San Francisco–Oakland–Hayward metropolitan area; instead, it maintain its own separate economy and government until 1980 when it merged with former Contra Costa County district (now Contra Costa County) to form the Bay Area District Authority. Today, Fillmore is known primarily for its art scene and its annual Farmer's Market Day festival which features local artists and farmers selling their products from stalls located throughout downtown
