In 1949, American Arms Corporation released their Gun Cleaning Kit. This kit contained three items: a plastic container with an applicator nozzle, metal bristles (for brushing off fingerprints), and six brush heads (single end/multi-end). The main difference between this kit and the previous ones is that it included items specific to handguns such as patchesoul barrels (to remove fouling) and carbon dioxide cartridges (.380ACP only). In 1957, Golden Gate Munitions Company released their Gun Cleaning Kits series which contained both plastic containers with applicators nozzles (containing various chemicals) as well as metal bristles(for brushing off fingerprints). The most significant change within these kits was the addition of nitrogen gas cartridges (.22LR only) into them in order to create more effective firearm cleaners than earlier versions did using less harmful materials like air pressure alone
