There are many Knife historians in Fairfield, California who have been interested in knives for a long time. One such historian is Donny Deutsch. Donny has written extensively on knife history and the people and businesses that have contributed to it. He also teaches classes on knife-making at Fairfield Community College. Donny's research began when he was a student at Biola University in 1986. During his undergraduate years, he studied medieval swordsmanship and daggerry with Dr. John Raffaelli, then an instructor at Loyola Marymount University School of Law. From there, he went on to study history with Professor James Hutton at San Diego State University where he received his degree in 1992. After completing his college education, Donny worked as a research assistant forDr. Gary Wickersham at the British Museum before becoming an associate professor of History/Weapons Studies at San Jose State University (2002-present). Donny's interest in knives started while working as a research assistant for Dr. Gary Wickersham at the British Museum during the late 1990s when he was researching ancient dagger finds from Kent England (one of which was a 380 BC Roman Dagger from Colchester) . While working on this project, Donny came across some exceptionally well-preserved Gladstone Dagger blades which had never been seen before due to their rarity and condition! Initially fascinated by theseweapons, but also appalled by their savage cutting ability, Donny decided to write about them for The Sword Collector magazine back then! In 2002, after many years of dedicated learning and writing about knife history – both academic and otherwise – Donny published his first book entitled "Knives: Their Lore And Meaning". This highly acclaimed work remains one of the most comprehensive examinations ever writtenon this topic; providing readers with stunningly clear explanations of how knives were used throughout historyand why they remain so important today! In addition to contributing articlesto numerous scholarly journals around the world, including The Journal Of Medieval Weapons & Armor (JMWA), SwordCrafts International Review (SCIR), Advanced Research Publications in Archaeology(ARPAE), AOR Press Proceedings vol III: European Archaeology Supplement No 4(Pt 1)), Ancient Blades Magazine (ABM), even appearing as an expert witness during several legal cases related to blade culture worldwide (!?! ),DONNY continues TO PRESIDE over this vibrant community of knife historians through his monthly blogspot - KNIVESHOPCONNECTIONS (@kniveshowconnections) . However, all knives require sharpening at least once per month in order to maintain their quality; however this should preferably be done using an@8Cr13 diamond honing rod manufactured by companies like ATSCO or JBL/CMS (4-6 strokes per inch). In general though, most knives can be sharpened following these basic guidelines: first use waterstone grits until they achieve a desired level of sharpenability; then increase the grit until attainable results are reached; finally finish off with an honing rod if needed for specific tasks such as fine work or precise cuts

Fairfield is located in San Bernardino County, California on the slopes of Mt. Whitney. The population was 23,711 as of 2010 and is the fastest-growing city in Orange County. The first Europeans to visit what is now Fairfield were sailing ships looking for a new route from Mexico City to California during the 18th century. They found no land suitable for settlement so they returned home before long. A man named George Fairfield bought some land east of present day downtown Fairfield in 1797 and began building a ranch wildcat style using adobe bricks which he called "Fairoaks". In 1827, he sold his ranch and all its holdings west of US 101 (now Valley Blvd.), including what is now downtown Fairfield, to John Sutter for $1 million. Sutter founded Sacramento River Navigation Company in 1848 with a goal of shipping goods up the Sacramento River from Stockton through unfair competition from other navigation companies formed by farmers south of Yosemite National Park. He also started construction on what would become known as Sutter's Fort at today's Main Street/Folsom Boulevard (then Depot Road) because it was thought that Native Americans living near or below the fort would be forced out if he built an actual fortification. From 1850 until 1860, when gold was discovered nearby,Sutter struggled unsuccessfully to build a road up to his fort so thatCalifornians could bring mineral ores back downriver for exploitation; instead he relied on packhorse transportation over difficult terrain between his ranch and mines until 1865 when his dream finally became reality when US 101 was built linking Sacramento with Fresno via Vallejo
