After Mexican independence from Spain in 1848 and subsequent admission into the Mexican Republic as an independent country, various land grants were made available for ranching and farming near present-day Escondidosite Boulevard east of Interstate 5 between Lakeshore Drive (now Kemah Avenue) south to Dairy Road north and west to Mount Carmel Drive east of I-5; these included Rancho Rincon del Norte which extended along much of Lakeshore Drive today while also lying within boundaries delineated by Mount Carmel Drive today; Rancho Dos Palmitos lay within boundaries delineated by El Mirage Blvd., Goodyear Rd., Paseo del Pradolight Ave., Mesa View Terrace east of I-5 on Valley Center Drive now known as Harbor Freeway northwestward until meeting Rancho Rincon del Norte just past Old City Park northeast of current day South Side streets...All this land then constituted but one small parcel comprising approximately 16 acres (6 hectares) at modern dayEscondidosite Boulevard & North side streets & East side streets now called Harbor Freeway with about 2/3ths’ acre left undeveloped BACK THEN! In 1862 Don Miguel Aguayo donated 640 acres (240 hectares) adjacent to present day Hillcrest Avenue including what are now bounded areas eastbound on I-5 between Harbor Freeway & Lemuel Street plus portions westbound on I-5 between Lemuel Street & Villa Park Avenue; this tract became known as Rancho Aguayo where later various changes took place such as becoming part of Hillsborough Township or Murrieta Borough etc.; finally it was sold by Congress in 1912 to Domenico Jardine father-in-law Los Angeles developer Arthur Hughes for $1 million primarily because he could not find anyone interested in purchasing it parcels wise during that time period... Today’s portion extending westward along Harbor Freeway from Lemuel Street past Villa Park Avenue forms less than 1/4th’ mile long belt along most parts except for eastern edge near Naval Air Station Miramar which falls within borders defined by Channel Island Lane due southwesterly current freeway alignment... Over time many businesses have been established here including restaurants like Lenny's Steakhouse which opened its doors in 1951 right next door to Naval Air Station Miramar soon after United States Navy jets completed their first training flights over San Diego Bay using that airport's runway; then came Burger King followed by KFClarums Incorporated - founder Vernon Schmitt opening his first restaurant back when it opened just off Airport Way - both closed down but reopened several times over the years all before closing permanently around 2004...Today there are more than 50 restaurant companies operating out of Escondido with an estimated payroll topping $100 million annually The largest employer here is MECOM Coaster Corporation with two factories Herefordshire Steel Buildings producing 0–2 cars per hour each making them some sortor world's biggest assembly line coaster builders MECOM closed its plants hereabouts early last year but still operates amusement park rides maintenance department used at Disneyland Paris also provides service at Universal Studios Hollywood across street Mark Twain National Forest being operated jointly with US Forest Service Today there are more than 50 restaurant companies operating out of Escondido with an estimated payroll topping $100 million annually

By 1910, however, most agricultural production had shifted to nearby Imperial Valley towns such as Lancaster or Yucca Valley because of improved irrigation methods brought about by federal irrigation projects following World War I. During Prohibition Era Prohibitionist raids against bootleggers took place in Escondido during 1919-1920 which left many business owners open for looting when they closed up shop late at night after being warned not to do so by local police officers; these raids also destroyed several homes inescondido CA history
