In 1850s there was a big industry in shipbuilding here because local ships could travel far away to get parts needed for other ships while still being seaworthy and able to sail back home again- this gave rise to the name "Shipbuilding Valley". At one point there were over 100 shipyards across San Diego County! However during World War II many businesses closed down due to rationing and combat manufacturing (also known as "the great American depression"). Although most shops reopened soon afterwards things changed once again when production stopped at Pearl Harbor prompting companies such as Boeing and Kaiser Aluminum Industries Ltd., which operated out of nearby Vista Mesa to open their plants in Escondido instead; this helped revive the city's economy during peacetime but also caused some long-term problems since these new factories produced high levels of noise and dust which interfered with people's abilityto live quietly or raise families without fear of air pollution etc... Today Escondido is experiencing resurgence thanks in part to its location close proximity to popular beaches like North Park Boulevard/La Jolla Shores & Carlsbad Caverns National Park combined with its flourishing cultural scene including several prestigious art museums like Museum District/San Diego State University Joint students edition (MUSI), Scripps Institution Of Radio And Television Arts And Sciences (SIRTAS), Qualcomm Stadium & North Coast Aquarium among others As well as its rich history dating back centuries which makes it an interesting place for tourists interestedin exploring its namesake cityscape !!!
Escondido, California was founded on December 29, 1853 by Manuel Nieto and his wife Mariana. It became a city in 1865 and remained so until it was annexed by Los Angeles on January 6, 1990.
