As part of our ongoing celebration of gun targets history in Elk Grove, we would like to share with you some of our favorite pieces from their archives: The first ever handgun target created at Smith & Wesson Corporation was a prototype designed by Julius Ewing during World War I while he was working for Colt Firearms Company Ltd.. This Target is made out of cast iron blocks which were then polished to a mirror finish before being fired off at 1/2 inch height using frictionless projectiles provided by Rheinmetall Inc.. The target is one foot wide x three feet long x one foot high making it ideal for use as both indoor practice equipment and outdoor competition targets

Elk Grove is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 44,898 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Contra Costa County after Pleasanton. Elk Grove is located on the eastern border of Contra Costa County and on the eastern edge of San Pablo Bay. The largest creek flowing through Elk Grove is Elm Creek. The first people to live in what would become Elk Grove were Native Americans who hunted game in the area now known as Elk Grove Village. There may have been earlier settlements but no evidence has been found to support this claim. The first European to visit what is now Elk Grove was Captain George Vancouver who charted an expedition from Point Reyes Station on July 26, 1792 during his return trip from exploring North America. He named one of his islands "Eskridge" after David Jones' farmstead near modern-day Menlo Park which he visited while stationed there with HMS Discovery (1793). The first stores were built in what is now downtown Elks Grove by businessmen John Doherty and Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1876. A post office called "Elsgrove" was established at this location on November 15, 1876, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. A depot for trains running between Oakland and Sacramento was built at this site around 1886; however, it never opened because of financial problems caused by railroads being built just east of town across Interstate 880 (). In 1915, a group of local citizens formed the city government of Elk Grove Village; they soon renamed it "ElkGrove City" after incorporation occurred that year. In 1917, when World War I began, the United States entered into war with Germany; as a result, food supplies became scarce within California so much so that prices for goods such as milk went up 50%. On October 10th 1918 American forces liberated Paris from German occupation following World War I; therefore starting off US involvement in World War II Emperor Hirohito issued Order No 1 asking citizens throughout Japan to open their homes to civilians living under occupation for temporary purposes during this time period.. This order led to over 2 million Japanese nationals living within California during 1945-1946 thus giving rise to nickname "Germans are coming home!" Additionally between 1940-1945 over 6 hundred thousand communists had also relocated within California due persecution by UJA (United Jewish Appeal) leaders including Harry S Truman's father Amos Trumbull based out of Los Angeles . After liberation many exiles returned home including many Hollywood stars such as Ray Milland and Shirley Temple among others
