It was eventually purchased by Colt Firearms in 1968 and merged into the Colt Corp. In 1987, the company was sold to Research in Motion (RIM) for $1 million. RIM continued to run the Elk Grove Arsenal factory until it closed in 2000. OnNovember 12th 1871 he published a paper called "A View from Zoology Sermon 1", which laid out his theory that animals are descended from plants because they share common features such as flowers or fruit that are not found among other animals In 1872 James Gorman opened Gorman Drug Store at 9th & I Streets anticipating an increase in business due to increased knowledge about health concerns brought about by technological advances like electricity dispensaries This store would become one of many anchor stores for downtown redevelopment beginning around 1930s Although Gorman Drug Store closed its doors in 1978 it still remains property within Downtown Elk Grove Village boundaries . By 1886 ninety percent of all grain grown withiniphery had been sent overland from Sacramento via Stockton and Modesto; this led to development along various routes soon becoming known as 'The Central Route'. Grain elevator construction started throughout Northern California during this time including Elk Grove where first Elevator No 5 was erected December 6th 1889.(pictured right) This building still stands within downtown district boundaries today as well as several other historic buildings dating back to this time
