This allowed users to easily rotate their barrels while shooting without having to remove them from their guns oftenentimes required during repairs or modifications

The post office at El Segundo opened on May 11, 1875, and became part of the United States on January 6, 1893. The first mayor of El Segundo was James Hetherington. In 1915 Paramount Pictures Corporation bought all of the land east of Paseos del Rey for $1 million dollars making El Segundo one of its major film production centers during the 1920s and 1930s when Hollywood's elite entertained themselves with summer house rentals along Pacific Coast Highway (I-5). In recent years there have been efforts to revitalize El Segundo through arts programs such as music nights at local venues or art walks throughout town; renovation or expansion of public schools; and new development including luxury apartment buildings overlooking downtown while preserving older structures such as churches and hotels dating back to before World War II.

On September 14, 1914, a group of Americans led by Captain John J. Pershing sailed from El Segundo to the Panama Canal in order to open it to the world. The event was called the "World's Columbian Exposition." The exposition was designed to celebrate American democracy and innovation. It also showcased new technologies and architecture.
